| What Kind of Vegetable will I be? |

There are times in your life when there isn't any other place to go but to the Lord. One of those days was when my fifth child was only five weeks old. His dad and I had just started to attend church again, we both had rededicated our lives to Him, and everything seemed to be going just great.
My husband Jim was really on fire, and he wanted all the Lord had for him and more. A friend of his told him about an incident at work, and he was having a battle with the devil. It is a very long story, so I will try to condense it. Ron was battling for his life, and was knocked to the ground. Several of his workers could see something was wrong, but didn't understand what was going on. They were all new Christians. Realizing that Ron was in trouble, they prayed the blood of Christ to surround them and their friend. Finally the battle was over, and they relayed the event at a church meeting. Jim told the Pastor that if he left satan alone, satan would leave him alone. The pastor then told Jim, not to say that as Satan was real.
My husband came home that evening and told me about the event, and laughing about it. The next morning, my baby son, became listless, and moaned every time I touched him. I called the doctor but being five weeks, he said just watch him. I did all that day, and then about seven p.m. Todd stopped breathing. I shook him and screamed to my husband to watch the other children that I was taking the baby to the hospital. I shook him all the way, one hand on him and one on the steering wheel. The nurses just left the baby on the table, not touching him, saying they had to wait for the doctor. When the doctor finally arrived, he called the police and said he needed a police escort to a hospital some fifteen miles away. The doctor had been out for an ice cream with his wife when the call came. I climbed into the middle between the doctor and his wife with the baby, and an oxygen tank. I held the baby and his wife held a flashlight on the little one.I had a mask to put over the baby's mouth should he stop breathing again. The last time I looked at the speed odometer, it read, 100!
At the hospital we were met by specialists. The Pediatrician examined him and told me it was either a severe ear infection or spinal meningitis. If he returned with needles in his head, then it was meningitis.
I sat alone, waiting for my husband to arrive at the hospital. He had to find someone to watch our other children, and when he came down the corridor, I cried out "I can't lose another one!" I had lost a little girl at the age of 15 months, and I didn't want to let another baby go.
Jim immediately told me that he had asked the Lord to forgive him for doubting the existence of the devil, and he knew that the Lord was greater than satan, and the baby would be all right.
Just then, coming down the hall was the doctor, a nurse and my little baby, Todd. He had needles in his head, and I knew it was serious. The doctor sat down with Jim and myself and started to tell us the seriousness of this disease. He proceeded to make out the death certificate. All it needed was the doctors signature and time of death. Jim said, "Don't worry doc, he's going to make it, the Lord will heal him." The doctor said he would be a vegetable if he liived. Every day we waited, we watched, we prayed, and saw the baby improve. He would make it.
Every visit to the doctor was an event, he rolled over, he sat up, he walked. This doctor called him his miracle baby. No baby had ever lived from meningitis that young. The whole point of this story is, no matter the problem, not matter how serious things look, if you stop, and Go to the Lord in prayer, He will get you through the experience.
Satan is alive and well, going about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Keep yourselves prayed up, and sold out to the one who purchased you with His precious blood. Do not tempt the devil, because you may be tested above what you think you are able to stand. Nothing is impossible when you go the the Lord.
Today my son is 40, he loves the Lord with all his heart, and is one of the eggs I put in my basket when I gave the basket to God. Perhaps you have read some of Brother Todd's blogs, and this is the little baby that once asked his momma after hearing his dad (The Preacher) give this testimony several different times, "Momma, what kind of vegetable would I be?" |

| This is an awesome testimony of God! I always tell my husband not to get too sure about the devil....cause when he can't get through one door, he'll make another if you're not on your guard. Thanks for sharing this! |

What a wonderful, embarrassing story about Todd. I love it!
Wow, you live in Winona? That's not that far from Wills Point. You make sure if Todd visits you that he comes to see Charlie and Alice. |
