If you punch someone hard enough, enough times then eventually they will accept what you are trying to make them understand... just kidding. I made all that up! :D Seriously though, In youth group tonight, our Pastor talked about evangelism and he really did compare it to boxing well... but it had nothing to do with what I said... Anyways, just wanted to share the outline with you from my notes. All People Have Needs 1. Physical Needs 2. Emotional Needs 3. Spiritual Needs Too often, people recognize others physical and emotional needs, but the spiritual needs are still there. Biblical Truths About Spiritual Needs 1. Every single person needs Christ! (Romans 3:9, 23 and also John 3:18) 2. God loves every person and has provided their salvation. (John 3:16 and Romans 2:4) 3. God desires to save each lost person. (1 Timothy 2:4 and 1 John 2:2) 4. God has chosen to give the message of salvation through those who have experienced what they share. (Acts 1:8) What You Can Do To Introduce Jesus To People You Know 1. Show genuine concern for others, taking time to know their story. 2. Take time to tell them your story. (An honest testimony with no sugar coating can be very powerful!) 3. Extend an invitation... for you to listen to them, for them to come to church, for you to give them more information, or for you to explain salvation to them. 4. Expect a variety of responses... some may have closed hearts, some may have shallow hearts, some may have distracted hearts, and some may have fertile hearts. 5. Follow up with continuous love no matter what they decided the first time you told them about Christ and make sure to pray for them! -------------------------------------------------------------------- So, these were my notes. I know this is all basic stuff, but just the organization of it makes it easy for people to understand who usually find it difficult to risk their friendships by trying to win the hearts of people they are close to. But like our Pastor asked us tonight... Do you love your friends enough to share the gospel with them no matter what the risk is? |
