| A POWER IN PRAYER! Did you know that when you go to your Lord in prayer that you have some very powerful tools at your disposal? Did you know that prayer is actually commanded of you by your Father? Did you realize that you can even demand an answer from God and that you should not let go of the prayer until the Lord has met your demand (if it is for His glory that is)?Do you know that every time you pray to the Father, even though you may not be able to find the right words, another prayer goes with it and it is that of Jesus Christ Himself? There are no right or wrong ways to pray! Some feel comfortable on bended knees and hands clasped together (as one would teach a child). Some people prefer to sit. However you choose as long as you are approaching the Father in reverence it matters not what position you choose or even the words. The simpler and more specific the prayer, the better it will be received by God. He does not require eloquence of speech or long drawn out sentences. Remember that He knows your needs before you ask. Why then does God need prayers at all? It is simply for our benefit, It brings us into His presence and reminds us of our need of His forgiveness and protection.Do you think at times that God will not listen to your prayer or even fail to deliver the promises that He made to you? Consider the Ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? (Luke 12:24)When the Raven cries out to be fed the Lord hears its cries and answers its demands, how greater are you than thousands of Ravens? The insect that with puny wing,Just shoots along one summer’s ray;The flow’ret, which the breath of springWakes into life for half a day;The smallest mote, the tenderest hair,All feel our Heaveny Father’s care(Author unknown) You might do well to start your prayer acknowledging and confessing your sin. Lord be merciful to me a sinner! Then Be specific, if you are praying for “Julie” say Julie. If you are praying for “Tom” say Tom etc! Remind God of the promises He gave when He said: Ask and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you! Luke 11:9-10.Be humble before the Lord and yet Bold. God desires humbleness coupled with boldness. And remember that God, in the old and new testaments…just before He performed a miracle, always made it known that HE WAS THE MIRACLE MAKER and not man. Jesus asked, How much food do we have for these people, knowing full well that there was not enough to go round. When Elijah was with the priests of Baal at Carmel and they were testing the gods Elijah said, “fill four barrels with water and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood. And He said do it a second time, and they did it a second time and a third. He filled the trench around it also with water and Jehova sent down fire and burnt up the sacrifice, the alter and the rocks around it (1 Kings 18:33-35). This was done to prove that man could not have interfered with the miracle and that it could only be from God.Remind God that He promised to answer prayer and He will honour His word. Do not walk away without an answer and EXPECT one, For God never lies and He has Promised, Ask and ye shall receive…… Keep on praying until He delivers! |
