I have told you many times about Isaac, our first born son. He and I have fantastic conversations about God; I love that we can fellowship together even at his tender age of five. 18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, saying, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for to such belongeth the kingdom of God.
There are many precious moments I savor as a mother, but it is the time we spend discussing things about Jesus and His creation that I treasure most. Not long ago, after our nightly practice of memorizing scripture and ministering "the blessing" to one another, while lying in bed at my side he said, "Mom, God doesn’t talk to me..." Of course this got my attention immediately! I turned to search his face and saw his gaze fixed on the ceiling as if all that he had to say to God stopped right there. I knew exactly how he felt. As a child, I often wondered the same thing...and I also hated that every time I prayed, I would yawn! This proved to be one of my greatest annoyances in effort to pray to a God... I didn’t know. It never failed! I would always feel it coming on like a wave washing over me: I wondered if He even took me seriously at all because of this blatant weakness in such a simple matter. Growing up, I never had a conversation with my parents like this, so I was grateful that the Lord of grace permitted me, as I am no more worthy than the next person to be given such a privilege as to be able to receive and answer such an important question.
15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
I turned my face to my son, ultimately His son, and told him that "God HAS spoken: He gave us His very word, the Bible! That’s what the Bible is - His talking to us through this big book of letters of which there are sixty-six of them!" Isaac LOVES mail! He knew exactly what I meant when I said that "the Bible is God’s love letter to us - telling us all we need to know about Himself, who we are, and the instruction He has for our lives."
1:19 And we have the word of prophecy `made' more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts: 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation. 1:21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
I held the book up and fanned for him with my thumb how vast the pages were that are packed full of His words to us. I watched as Isaac’s eyes lit up with new understanding of what this "bible-thing" is REALLY all about.
My children have watched me read it for years and understand that I study it on a computer now. It is very important to me for them to know why they no longer see my nose in that big, thick, red book every night before I sleep: My readership is their first example of a love for God's word and an obedience to Christ.
1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. 1:23 For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: 1:24 for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 1:25 But he that looketh into the perfect law, the `law' of liberty, and `so' continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing. I reminded Isaac that though we cannot hear Him with our ears, or see Him with our eyes, He is there and can even see into our very hearts...everyone's, at the same time! This conversation happened just days before Isaac found the cross in the woods, which gave me opportunity to put application as to how God is with Him...and sees all that he does, and goes wherever he goes. The Lord IS walking with Isaac, - I can "see" that. I can "hear" His voice speaking him, to US, through His word. The Holy Spirit is teaching us which way is right, and which way is wrong. 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And light unto my path. 119:106 I have sworn, and have confirmed it, That I will observe thy righteous ordinances. Psalms 119:105-106 Can you see Him? Can you hear Him? If it seems like your prayers are hitting the ceiling and you wonder if He listens, get into His word, daily, faithfully, and obey His commands and "see" what happens - You WILL "hear" from Him!
25 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." 1 John 14:26 |

Pow-wer-ful !!!
Sometimes I like to write out my prayers, kind of my little love letters back to Him. Maybe when Isaac learns to write he will do that, too.
What a blessing he must be to you. |

Interesting the way you wrote that, "Pow-wer-ful" 1st: What a compliment! 2nd: It reminds me of the Godhead... I tend to see things in threes;)...my defect or God's divine imprint?!?
The Bible is God's Revelation, Inspiration, and Illumination for all men: There's that three again! And when we read it (the Bible), we are taught (the learner) by the Holy Spirit (the teacher).... This {{{blows}}} my mind...!!!
God bless your comments and thoughts toward our family: We ask for your prayers as we come to mind. Thank you. |

Very interesting. That is not the way I meant it -- but maybe He did? I'll have to give this three thing more thought.
My prayers are there every day. I thank God for friends like you who have blessed my life so enormously. |

Mike (n Laura), You are a constant source of encouragement.... Your faithfulness to this ministry is very uplifting! I have observed your correction as well, which is just as much a blessing.... as God is the One who we desire to please in all things! May you always be true to the One. God bless your family, friend....yes, ALL of you. Numbers 6:24-26 ~T. |

Lee, You ARE a blessing! A great source on "the three thing" is "The Truth Project" by Focus on the Family. They have been given this knowledge and understanding by God to share with the world: I give them 4 stars...out of 4!!! I have a blog entry and more info. on my profile page, including links to the video series, etc. There will be a teleconference in Sept. in over 300 churches... Just find the one nearest you. I will post more on this later. Romans 12:2 Much love to you Sister, ~T. |
