119:1 Blessed are they that are perfect in the way, Who walk in the law of Jehovah. 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, That seek him with the whole heart. 119:3 Yea, they do no unrighteousness; They walk in his ways. 119:4 Thou hast commanded `us' thy precepts, That we should observe them diligently. 119:5 Oh that my ways were established To observe thy statutes! 119:6 Then shall I not be put to shame, When I have respect unto all thy commandments. 10 Reason Why We Should Study The Bible
1. God's Word is Practical (Ps 119:9&11, Ps 119:105)
119:9 Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed `thereto' according to thy word. 119:11 Thy word have I laid up in my heart, That I might not sin against thee. 2. God's Word is Profitable. (II Tim 3:16-17)
3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 3. God's Word Prepares Us. (II TIm 3:16-17) 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 4. God's Word Give us Prudence. (Ps 119-97-101) 119:97 Oh how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day. 119:98 Thy commandments make me wiser than mine enemies; For they are ever with me. 119:99 I have more understanding than all my teachers; For thy testimonies are my meditation. 119:100 I understand more than the aged, Because I have kept thy precepts. 119:101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, That I might observe thy word. 5. God's Word Leads to Piety (Col 3:16-17) 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms `and' hymns `and' spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God. 3:17 And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, `do' all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. 6. God's Word is Powerful (Hebrews 4:12) 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 7. God's Word is Pleasant and Precious. (Ps 119:103-104, Ps 119:127, Ps 119:143) 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 119:104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
119:127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. 119:143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: [yet] thy commandments [are] my delights.
8. God's Word Give Us Peace. (Ps 119:49-50) 119:49 . Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. 119:50 This [is] my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
9. God's Word Makes Us Prosperous (Psalm 1:1-3 ) 1:1 Blessed [is] the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 1:2 But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
10. God's Word Protects Us. (Eph 6:10-17)
6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 6:12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual `hosts' of wickedness in the heavenly `places'. 6:13 Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. 6:14 Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 6:15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 6:16 withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil `one'. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 6:18 with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints, |

| Brother Todd, this is a good post. reading and studying God's word is so important, to grow, and beside it's great to get to know the Father; and when He communicates to us through the bible it is a wonderful feeling. I like how you laid this out, it is good to visionize, why that studying the bible is so important. |

| AMEN! You guys: Do you remember the song by Barry White: "Cant Get Enough of Your Love Babe? Do you think we could change the lyrics to: My Savior Lord, I can't get enough of your Word word Lord?" Yeah, we need it so much! Marjay: Good one of course it doesn't start with "P" so I am going to have to think about that one! LOL..But yes, the word renews our mind and makes this carnal mind spiritual. Also, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Eat it up! For it is sweeter than honeycomb! |

I am so glad that I read this--I have been slipping in my daily Protein fix for the Lord. I used to read the bible morning, noon and night and now although I still have my talks with the Lord, I must get back into my reading so that I continue to learn and understand him. I can now look at this as being one of the reasons I became ill. If I ignore him, he will ignore me. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this out for all of us to remember. |
