I have experienced the 'power of prayer' on several different occasions in my life. In particular, when I was homeless with a young child in tow. Despite not having no home, the clothes on our backs, and what food we got through vouchers, we had nothing, but faith and prayer to get us through that time. I learned what it meant to be hungry and thirsty. However, by praying to the Lord during that time, my hunger and thirst were satisfied. My prayers were answered, although not always exactly the way I would have liked them to turn out. However, it was His will that things turned out the way that they did. He answers prayers, but we don't always get them in the way that we expect. During my period of homelessness, I felt closer to the Lord, as I didn't have the trappings of modern culture. He spared me through to life-threatening illnesses during that period. The Lord is with us always, and He is just a heartbeat away. |
