| PROUD OF MILEY |

I was so proud of Miley Cyrus on the 08 Teen Choice Awards when she won her award for Female Artist (beating Mariah Carey, Britney Spears (thank goodness!), Rihanna, & Fergie). The first thing out of her mouth was "First of all, I want to thank the most important man in my life who I love so, so much and that's Big Jesus Christ...thank you so much for putting me here. I'm so blessed, and I could not be more excited to be walking this amazing path He has me on..."
I know lots of stars thank god, and I always hope they mean Jehovah when they say it, but really they could mean any number of "gods" but when you thank Jesus Christ, there's no mistake! I know that Miley has had some different issues here and there, but you know, she is learning just like the rest of us. I know I've made plenty, I just don't have a camera on me about 24 hrs a day, but that took faith and guts to stand up on National TV, and right there with and in front of her peers, that could just laugh at her. She is definitely not ashamed of Jesus.
People wonder why I, obviously NOT a teenager...like Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus so much, well, I just have a special place in my heart for her because she's such a young girl with such fame and, I am praying will stay true to her faith, and be a standup role model for young girls....that they can be happy, friendly, beautiful, talented, popular, and really have it all, WITHOUT being cocky, rude, diva-ish, snotty, wearing revealing clothes, etc. They can be the beautiful creation God made each of them to be, and be nice to and include EVERYONE, without giving in to the "worldly" idea of being "all that". And to be honest, she is living a dream I had when I was her age. But I know God's timing is perfect, and as I told my sisters at book club just last night, I have been a singer all my life and when I was younger, that's what I wanted even then but I didn't pursue it, but that was not God's timing and now, as an adult, I realize that, even though I was a Christian at the time, I was not a sanctified, Spirit filled Christian and I would not have been singing Christian music, and that's what I'm supposed to do. Who knows what I would have done or become or gotten into?? well God knew. But God brought me along and changed me and filled me with His Holy Spirit at about 28 or so, and then he brought that dream back to me and added to it a calling and now that's what I do and it's all in His hands.
Well, I just was so excited about Miley doing that, and I want to lift her up in prayer to stay strong and cling tight to her faith and not let fame and fortune drag her into the pit like it has soooo many others. I know it's somewhat different for someone my age to be such a fan of someone so young but it's like I told Carissa just the other day, I don't care if someone is 12 or 90, if I like them and their music, I'm gonna listen to it and be a fan. :) Darin thinks the shows I watch, like Hannah Montana, are teeny bopper shows too, but you know, I like shows that are funny, and interesting, and I don't have to worry about hearing cussing, or hearing or SEEING inappropriate stuff, etc. I do watch other stuff too but I love Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah, and sometimes Corey in the House, cause I can just laugh and enjoy it and I figure hey, if he can still watch episodes of Andy Griffith with Barney Fiffe for the 700th time, I can watch my teeny bopper shows! :) I can't help it, I'm a 14 year old trapped in a....."somewhat" older body!!! LOL :) No comments on that "somewhat" older body statement there! :)
Just sharing! :) |

I agree Joni! I am proud of how she has handled her fame so far...it can't be easy, and I think her parents have done a good job of helping her to stay grounded in her faith. Carol |

| I do feel bad for Britney and all that's happened in her life and she is definitely not beyond being saved!! It would be quite a testimony for her, her sister, Ellen Degeneres, Linsday Lohan, Madonna, etc., to have their lives changed by Christ!! I do pray for these quite often and others that are so in the public eye and struggling. But....I was still glad that she didn't get the award because until she does make some major changes, I really would hate to see her picked as the teens choice for top artist. |

| Oh, that would be awful if she decided to do that!! She might think it would be just helping to make people responsible but it would send a WHOLE NOTHER MESSAGE!! I sure will pray she doesn't take that offer!!! I had not heard that! |

| Thank you Joni for expressing your heart so well here...I am with you on being proud of Miley for speaking up for Jesus...So many people will say they thank God and so you are right to point out that she specfically thanked Jesus...I'm proud of her for that I hope the life she lives and presents to the world is honoring to the Lord...If so, that would be an incredible witness to a lot of young girls...Oh, don't feel bad about liking to watch these girls Joni..You are as young as you feel...Remember that. :) |

| Thanks Vicky!! Other than the aches and pains of having had neck surgery and having to sleep on a full-wave waterbed (ugh) I feel very young! :) |
