anxiety - why am i so afraid?

We are going to america soon.  And the only way that i know our family goes is by plane.  i enjoy the trip and i think that it's exciting to be able to go but why oh why am i so afraid of flying?????  my palms become sweaty, my heartrate goes up and i have a plastered smile on my face because everyone tells me it's going to be alright.  well, i think that i think too much and feel too much.  you see my weakness is that i want to be control and i become anxious about things because i can't control the situation.  i can control so much but that is about it.  God has been showing me over the last couple of weeks about how He is control of things.  that i need to let go of  trying to be in control and to trust Him with my life. 
4:6 Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 4:7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.




There it is right there.  have no anxiety about anything.  God is bigger than anything that i fear, He is the ruler of the universe.  He put the universe and the world together, He formed me, He breathed life into me.  I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER MY LIFE!  Thank you God that i don't!!!  I wish my mind and my heart would listen to one another and then tell the rest of my body that it is okay.

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; 6:29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 6:30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? 6:31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 6:32 For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. 6:34 "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day.

Yes, Philippians 4:6-8 are verses I recite to myself in the dead of night when I find myself anxious about something.  Of course, things can look a lot blacker, not just literally, at that time than other times of the day.
