| God's Will Is Not Hidden |
|
| |
Do you repeatedly spend hours asking God to show you His will for your life, asking others how to find God's will for your life, or reading books that tell you how to find God's will for your life? If what we are seeking is truly God's own desire, why would He want to conceal that from us?
Maybe we are emphasizing the least important part of the question. We are asking "What's God's will for MY life?" when the real question is "What's GOD'S will . . .?" God's will is all about His kingdom, not me, but He invites all of us to freely participate! It is not likely that God has created one specific job for you to spend your lifetime seeking, or one specific place to live, or even one specific spouse, single people. God has set parameters in His Word for our lives. Parameters like: 22:37 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 22:38 This is the great and first commandment. 22:39 And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 6:14 Do not be mismated with unbelievers. For what partnership have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
Beyond the parameters, what we have somehow missed is the freedom that comes from Christ. Within the parameters He has set, we are all uniquely designed beings, each different from every other. Pray for guidance, trust that God surely wants to guide you, and then get up and go. Live your life. Enjoy the passions within you, and simply make yourself available to God to use as He chooses. Live in such close relationship to Him that every second of your life is a reflection of Him, even without your intentionality, and on those occasions when He wants to lead you in a very specific way, He will reveal that to you.
As for today, if you sing, sing for His glory! If you write, write for His glory! If you're a mom, demonstrate His love to your children! If you're a husband, demonstrate His love to your wife! If you're a secretary, reflect His love in your office! If you're an executive, reflect His character in your interactions! If you enjoy the gym, reflect His character there!
We are not slaves for God. We are His beloved children. May we live our lives as joyfully as this earthly existence allows, and serve Him as we go, with joy and passion!
37:4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 100:2 Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." |

| God's will is His word. Someone told me once I thought it very profound. As long as you are being obedient and doing what the Bible says to do, you never have to worry about being in God's will for you are doing it. Prov 3:5-6...trust in the lord with all your heart....and he will direct your paths. God Bless! |

A song comes to mind here - Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall give to you, the longings of your heart... All I can remember off the top of my head.
I think folk are taught to beat themselves up about their purpose in life. There is nothing to add to salvation - folk should learn to rest - snuggle not struggle.

Kathy,
It seems to me that as it is in any relationship, we can only have clear communication to hear His direction when our relationship is healthy...when we have frequent dialogue...when we share ourselves honestly with Him...when we share our joys and our concerns....when we open admit to Him our sins - what we have done or what we have failed to do. Coming to Him seeking His will outside of a healthy relationship is to once again treat Him as a divine vending machine when life feels out of sorts. We can't hear Him because we cannot discern that still, quiet voice.
This is something we all do. We just have to figure out that "...having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ..." actually means having a real relationship.

To know the will of God is to look at Jesus, He only did what He saw the Father doing and He said if you have seen Me you have seen the Father. However, I see no issue with asking God what His will on your life is. Paul prayed in Ephesians that the church would know the hope of His calling and in Collosians he prayed for the knowledge of His will. We need to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd but if we can't the Bible is loaded with principles as you have stated here in your blog.
I believe the biggest benefit of seeking Him or prayer is to truly know Him. We He died and the veil was torn, the opportunity for true relationship was born again. While some think of favor in terms of provisions, even the least of believers ar called to a relationship.
God bless! |

yeppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp! I think of this often: Trust in the Lord with all my heart, and lean not on my own understanding or past experiences; in all my ways acknowledge Him (be thankful to/for God), and He (via the Holy Spirit) shall direct my thinking and doing. |

Wonderful Blog Kathy! Often times I think people make things too complicated. The main thing is to Love God, Love our fellow man, seek to be of service to others, and the rest will fall into place.

How hard we make it for ourselves... struggling and struggling against ourselves, instead of embracing the wonderful lives that God gave us! It's so SIMPLE!
Thank you! |

| I completely agree Kathy. When I first read the Blackaby series on Experiencing God, I was overcome with a sense that the God he was writing about was a stern taskmaster who had the "assignment" for me, and that if I didn't find it, I was somehow out of God's will. "What crap!" was my final conclusion to the whole deal. |

| Praise God Kathy, I agree with everything you said. I have also found that when surrendder is the foundation of life, and our relationship with Jesus then and only then do we find His Will. Lets all agree in prayer that the Holy Spirit will lead us all individually, and corporatrly into a deeper level of surrenderance to His will. |
