Last night was one of those nights that you walk away and say to your self maybe I am in over my head? When I was 8 years old I went swimming in Holiday lake below Lynchburg VA. I was just learning how to swim so I decided to go into the deep beyond the "chain". I would swim out and swim right back to the chain, each time increasing my distance. One time I went just a little to far and almost didn't make it back to the chain. Exhausted I fell down on the beach trying to catch my breath, I knew I had been in way over my head. But eventually I learned to swim in the deep end.

I met with our building team till almost 10 PM last night. We have a problem, a good problem, but a problem none the less. Our Sunday School is maxed out and we are using every available space. And this is with two Sunday Schools! Our parking is close to max even with the new expansion. And this month looks like a record month for church attendance. So we need more space.

Enter meeting with architect and contractor. Suggested solution:build gym on lot, move worship center there and convert auditorium to Sunday School space. One catch, if we continue to grow our parking will not be sufficient even with limited growth. Another catch, price tag $800,000 in builder talk (Real cost $1 million+). We are pretty much land locked at our present location. It was about at this point that I got that sinking feeling in my stomach you know the one you get when you charge something big on you credit card or you sign the paper for you house loan. I start talking to myself, "What am I doing here, I am in way over my head."

Well ideas were fast and furious

• Move to new location
• Rent a school
• Start a satellite church in Clifton Forge
• Buy building block away for fellowship and education ($300,000)
• Build in the front
• Build in the back
• Build across the street on county land if we could get it
  

Get the picture?

The truth is I am in way over my head. But God isn't. He knows how this is going to turn out.

Now if He will just let me know everything will be great. :)

Until then I will lie awake praying and seeking His will.

Pray for the building team, we really need God's direction at this point. The architect will be getting back with us in a few weeks. Please pray I am in over my head. :)
