Her long curly brown hair waved across her soft, browned skin as she leaned forward to blow out her candles....she was five years old today...she raised up and laughed in celebration, then saw the cake being handed out. After awhile she was done opening gifts and realized she didn't get any cake. She immediately was sad and began crying. Her momma was seasoned in parenting and gently bend down beside her blessing and asked her what was wrong. The little angel looked up at her momma and with the biggest tears in her big brown eyes she said, "Momma, I didn't get any cake." Her mother's tender hand stroked her daughter's wavy hair and cleared it from her wet, tear-stained face as she told her a story....
"Sweetheart, for you see as I cut each piece of cake I was overjoyed by so much that I was praising God inside my heart and thanking God for each of your friends that came to your party.
I also was singing praises to my Lord as I remembered the day you were born...for you are a gift and a blessing to me."
"But momma, what does that have to do with cake?" The 5 year old questioned.
"Well, her momma said in her best, warmest 'momma voice', I have your back", she said as she reached forward and gently tickled the girl's tummy
Knowing her momma was playing, she softened her mood and walked more in understanding of what was going on for the moment.....
Her momma pulled out of the warm oven the biggest piece of cake the little girl had ever seen. The 5 year old's big brown eyes lit up and she gasped in excitement as she swiftly brought her hands up to cover her mouth.
Again, her momma began to finish explaining that as she was preparing for her friends, she knew her daughter may not understand and be sad some, but her daughter would also have a healthy attitude and would seek her for a answer instead of turning to something not healthy...
So the momma had a reward prepared for the 5 year old.
Just like our God, he rewards those who turn to Him and seeks His kingdom first...He loves us always and if we don't make the best choice, the love is the same, the reaction is the same, we just learn the lesson a little later...
How wonderful it is to receive the warm piece of your favorite cake with multi-colored sprinkles on top, can you just imagine the look on God's face as He hands you the reward you have run the race for...... |

| aaawww...I just read it to my family....this is inspired by my niece's 5 years old bithday today...we almost wept!!! Wow, how much God loves us!!! |

| Oh my goodness Cheryl this was such a beautiful story, and the way you compared it to our God just brought such an assurance to my heart....It let me know that YES...YES..YES...Our God has a big piece of cake waiting on little ole me....He hasn't forgotten about me...Praise the Name of Jesus....Pour on the Sprinkles ;o) |
