Know God
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
My Paraphrase:Anyone who does not know God, and is not given new birth from God, is not even capable of loving. God is the source of all love. Love each other because you are loved. It is you one true expression of Him!
The reason I have reversed this verse today is because I believe that "knowing God" is the ultimate goal of Christianity, It's not the "bennies" that we get from Him, those are just the fruit. They are not the root.
Knowing God is Eternal Life!
Jesus said it like this:
As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Jesus performed many miracles and accomplished more during His earthly ministry than I could ever fathom. But the reason He came is so that we may know the one and only true God and Jesus, the anointed one who He sent!
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Know God on an intimate level. This IS life eternal!
