| Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear |
|
| |
I'm sure we have all looked in a rear view mirror in a car, and seen a distorted view of what is real. Those words that "objects are closer than they appear" seem so simple minded...shouldn't we just KNOW that? Do they really have to tell us?
And I don't know if it is just me, but mirrors in clothing stores are not my friends. I know there are "funny" mirrors, that distort what is reflected in them, but can't they find mirrors that will reflect a skinny person rather than making me look 25 pounds heavier than I do in my mirror at home? They would sell more clothes that way!
13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. Michael's blog about us never seeing our face, except in a mirror, (You've Never Seen Your Face) really struck me. We look into a mirror, probably at least once a day, and we see a reflection, which is backwards from what everyone else sees. So we are actually seeing a dim picture of what we really are. Someday we will see face to face...not only God, but ourselves.
I would love to have a mirror that reflects no physical flaws, but shows perfection. However, that is not true of anyone in this life. If there were a mirror that could reflect our insides, and what we truly think and feel, I think none of us would be able to show our faces again. We would stay hidden in shame.
But until we are in heaven with our Lord and Savior, we cannot truly see everything as it should be seen. We are walking through this life with blinders on, seeing a dim reflection in the mirror of what is real. We cannot know the real reasons behind the things that happen in our lives because we cannot see it all as it truly is. Therefore we should not ask "why?" when things happen that we don't understand, because we only know in part. God knows it all, and has a better view from up there than we do from down here. Someday I will understand fully, even as I am fully understood.

I get so frustrated at things and don't understand so much, but when I stop and look, I realize that I am seeing only one side of the mountain...not the mountain in its entirety...which isn't possible for me to do anyway...so I thank God that He sees all! What else can I do? I really loved this statement: Someday I will understand fully, even as I am fully understood.
THAT IS FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!! Thanks for a great word!! |

| MsSugaCup, I get frustrated too, and I have to constantly tell myself, Deb, you don't know everything! You can't know the reasons God does this or that, so just rest in the assurance that He knows what is best. Not easy to do for someone who likes to be in control, but it is the only way to go. |

| Deb, great blog! I too have been wondering about the validity and advisibility of using that word "why?" when talking to God. Excellent observation! |

Deb, Awesome Blog.
Except... 25lb heavier... Now wait... I always see it in the mirror that I am always 25 lb heavier and do not choose to purchase the clothes.
Funny how we all see it. Funny how God see's it. It is just a journey and it just draws you closer to God. Someday it will be perfect, we will be perfect.
Thanks for posting |

Mike, I have been told that if we question the why of God's action, that we just might be questioning his power and sovereignty. I don't want to do that, but then there are times when I just want to understand better. I think God knows our hearts, when we think we know how things should go better than Him, and when we just want to understand and learn more.
jesusrestores, when we look in the mirror, we should see a reflection of Jesus, that is so true. But so often we get caught up in this world and the things that this world deems important, like looking good.
Carol and Mike, and Doyle, thank you!
Becky, it does kind of sound like I said that the stores would sell more clothes if the mirrors made us look heavier, but I asked if the stores could find mirrors that reflect a skinny person, rather than making me look as if I weigh 25 more pounds heavier that I do in when I look in my mirror at home. |

This really is a great blog Deb!
I believe that the person in the spiritual mirror, Jesus is really closer than He appears as well. He said himself that the Kingdom of God is at hand!
I love this verse: Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. When that day comes that we actually see God, we shall become exactly like God. These physical bodies themselves are not capable of seeing Him as He really is. We cannot comprehend nor contain His incredible Glory!
Thank you Deb for being you. I just love your blogs!

Cheryl, I thought perhaps it was just me. I am glad I am not alone! lol
Michael, I haven't heard from you in a while! Glad to have you commenting here. It is good to point out that when we get to heaven we will see God for what He really is. I think it is safe to say that we do not see all that He does in our lives because we are unable to. When we get to heaven all of that will be revealed! Won't we stand amazed! |
