Mary this was a powerful blog....Oh how I remember those days when I used to fake it until I could make it....All hell would be breaking loose in my life, but I would keep a smile on my face...I was about to loose my home (and did)...I was about to loose my car (and did)...I lost my job..my husband..my everything.....but I kept on smiling and kept on praising God.....Now even though God brought me through those tough periods in my life....He also taught me some things in the process....You see back then, a little over 20 years ago, I didn't want nobody to KNOW that I was going through....and that I needed help (pride)....GOD had to teach me that no man is an island and no man stands alone....We NEED each other.....and had I opened my mouth and kept it real...and told somebody....Maybe...just maybe....All would not have been lost......

But thanks be to God, through those times.. I kept my JOY....because the JOY of the Lord *was* my strength....Nobody ever had a clue I was going through anything, because I always had my JOY...Over the years, I've learned to see and do things differently now.....I recognize when I need help, and am not ashamed to ask for it...whether it be for prayer...money, whatever...I've learned to reach out to the extended arms of the Body of Christ, family and friends, and through that GOD always allows me to have the VICTORY....Oh yeah I have to cry sometimes..my so called friends leave...my family forsakes me....misunderstands me...etc. etc. etc. but I hold fast to the WORD OF GOD and He brings me through every time.  Thank you for taking me back down memory lane ;o)

Been there, done that... Holding onto that JOY through the bad times is really, really hard.  We have to hold on for the strength it provides.  I learned a long time ago to let go of that pride and let God do his thing.

Thanks for that testimony

Mary, faith despite unfortunate or dire circumstances is the most powerful faith there is. Folks who enjoy prosperity and the happy life, although blessed by God, just don't shine as brightly for the Lord, IMHO. What do they say, the Christian life is like taking a lump of coal and applying tremendous pressure in order to develop a pearl? (or something like that) Great blog Mary, your teaching on joy and faith is appreciated!
