Thankfully, God has seen fit to bring us home safely from Romania, once again!!! Wow, I have seen so many changes there. Unfortunately, the spiritual changes seem the least... Maybe they are becoming more "Americanized"; they have more "stuff" in certain areas, these areas were also the areas that were controlled by the orthodox religion. (according to our missionary). We held medical clinics Monday- Friday in various areas. As usual, the attendance was high for the physical treatment, we saw 170-250 people per day. We were blessed with an abundance of medicines this year... partly from the generous gifts from Southside, but also from an organization called Christian Aid Ministries. We were blessed beyond words to meet the missionary from Ohio (actually a Romania woman) who escaped communist Romania and continues to serve her native country in missions. What an awesome testimony this woman has. We had the honor to meet and spend some time with her. Her name is Elena (Boghian) Marza. She wanted to have a devotion time with our team after our first day of clinic. We were exhausted from travel, losing that 7 or 8 hours ( i can never remember which), and being on our feet all day at the busy clinic. Selfishly, I am ashamed to admit that all I could think was, i sure hope she makes this quick!!! She proceeded to blow us away with her testimony. She is a very shy person and as her story unfolded, the steadfastness of her faith in the face of persecution was amazing. I think the entire team was sitting there with tears streaming down our faces ( we really need to pack more tissues). She lived through unspeakable acts of cruelty, that we cannot even imagine... and not just one or two things...this was her life for many years!!! She is so humble as she shares her experiences of spending time in prison for smuggling Bibles...2 or 3 years!!! in communist prisons and this was in the 80's...that was one thing that really hit me. She had some different slides ..pictures of herself and family and friends and the dates were in the 1980's. What were you doing in the 80's ? My problems were put into perspective!!! Anyway, we are back, and thank you for your prayers!!! I made up with my daughter before i left and she is here visiting me now that i am home!!! Thank you God for All the ways you bless me. |
