The Eyes Of Your Heart
We have all heard and probably sung the song "Open The Eyes of My Heart". I know I have, many times. I love that song. But have you ever really stopped to think about what that means? Is it possible that we can actually see with our hearts?
I was pondering on this a little last night as a matter of fact. I was thinking about Adam & Eve back in the Garden. I believe Adam & Eve were actually created with a 6th sense. I believe that Adam & Eve had the ability to see with their hearts. Or maybe that could be better said, they were actually able to walk entirely by faith and not by sight.
Think about it for a moment. Prior to them partaking of the forbidden fruit, they met with God in the cool of the evening just to fellowship with Him. And you know what else? They were butt naked the entire time. But apparently this never occurred to them. Why? Because they were seeing entirely through their spiritual eyes. It was not until after they ate of the tree that their "physical" eyes were opened.
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Now don't you think that their physical eyes were really opened the entire time? I don't believe this verse means that their eyes were literally opened for the first time. I believe it means that their carnal eyes were opened for the first time. It was only now, after falling prey to the enemies deceit, that they even became aware of their nakedness.
So, What am I saying? I am trying to say that we have another set of eyes. We have the ability to see beyond what can be seen. We have the ability to walk by faith and not by sight. I love one of the passages that the Apostle Paul writes about this:
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. Wow! Paul had the most amazing vision! Paul had the ability to see beyond what was lying directly in front of him. Paul could see through the eyes of his heart.
What's troubling you today my friend? What obstacles are in your way? Is it financial stress? Is it some physical ailment? Are you emotionally turmoiled? I'd like to say that I feel sorry for you, but that wouldn't help. But what I can do is encourage you that in the light of eternity, whatever problems you may be facing in your life are only temporary. Or as Paul says, "but for a moment". Are you able to see that through the lenses of your spiritual heart, what you are really experiencing is just a light affliction. It came to pass!
Paul had plenty of reason to complain. If you think you are having a tough time, take a look at some of Paul's "Light Afflictions"
Are they servants of Christ? I know I sound like a madman, but I have served him far more! I have worked harder, been put in prison more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again. Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty-nine lashes. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I spent a whole night and a day adrift at sea. I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not. I have worked hard and long, enduring many sleepless nights. I have been hungry and thirsty and have often gone without food. I have shivered in the cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm. Then, besides all this, I have the daily burden of my concern for all the churches. Paul had reason to complain if anybody did, yet he called it just a light affliction. Only for a moment. Wow!
I exhort you today my friend to not let your heart be troubled. Look beyond this temporary physical realm. Look at the things that cannot be seen. Look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith! He is preparing a place for you! Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Jesus was telling the disciples this the night before his crucifiction. He knew that they were about to experience terrible heart ache and they would not be able to comprehend. And what was was his advice? Let not your heart be troubled. Open the eyes of your heart! He immediately prompted them to keep their eyes on the eternal. He pointed their thoughts to heaven!
Be encouraged people. See what cannot be seen. Look beyond your problems. See the solution. Open the eyes of your heart!
That's all I have time for today. Man I feel right now like I could write on this topic for days. Just know that I love you, we love you, and God loves you, passionately!
See what I'm sayin?
In love, Michael |

Michael Moore August 13, 2008 I would like to just say for the record that while we do have the ability to see with our hearts, just like Adam and Eve, I would highly recommend keeping your clothes on anyway. Not everyone around you will have the same ability to see only in the spiritual!

Breathe taking.....
Our life-goal is to come back to the place we "were" in the beginning of time when our walk with Christ was as it should be...the walk of purity in the garden...... |

Wow...I am really flattered by all these compliments. I wish I could say this was my own doing. This actually came from the renewed part of my brain, Praise God! You know how I can tell? It makes sense to even Lara! I really CAN do all things through Christ who HAS strengthened me!
Mike man.....Do not be offended. The only reason I gave Cheryl the extra kudos is because she is pimping a link to this blog out on her memo! Hee Hee! |

Carol Hall August 13, 2008 Great topic, Michael! The eyes are a little freaky, though. FYI...I just finished a year of Bible College, and our professor made the same reference to eyes of the heart and carnal eyes as they relate to Adam & Eve in the Garden. Thanks for posting! Carol |

Jeff Turner August 13, 2008 Thank you all, for sharing these truths which are truly inspirational. How unsearchable are the rich stores of wisdom in His Holy Word. These are the last days if ever there were, for knowledge has increased and these are perilous times so we as the Bride of Christ need to prepare today and walk in Love and unite in prayer. If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray...I am and my goal is to bring unity to the Body of faithful bondservants of Christ and watch His mighty power harvest the last crops for Him. Let us cast off the burdens of this world and take His EASY and LIGHT burden and charge the gates of hell - we have His WORD and that shall stand forever!!! PRAISE THE LAMB!!!! |

Brother Todd August 13, 2008 I "see" what you are saying. Was that an intended pun? It was very clever if so. Michael, we have to see with our heart and listen with our heart. How can we get past the carnal and the physical? How can we break through to the spiritual realm? Those are some questions worth pondering. That is a great blog and perhaps you should write some more on this. |

Let it be known to all men, and wo-men, that on this, the 13th Day of August, in the year of our Lord 2008, that Lara Leger actually lay forth a comment that stands in agreement with the topic of one of Michael Moore's Blogs. And so it was so!

It's funny when I answer the phone at my office "Michael Moore"......Almost always there is a moment of silence on the other end. I then know I am either going to get hung up on or be the brunt of some ridiculous joke!
Hmmm....maybe that's why business is down lately? |

Deb Rockwell August 13, 2008 I have sung this song many times in praise team at church, and I have thought extensively what it means. I know that right now I am grieving the loss of my cat, and it hurts like crazy, but I am trying to walk by faith, that God will get me through it, that this will pass, that I will hurt less and less with time, keeping my eyes on the finish line, trying not to get lost in the pain. Great blog Michael! |

Bimonics December 09, 2008
Well, you have touched upon the hidden-man-of-the-heart. How wonderful is 'Christ in you, the hope of glory'? I think this is the issue of our day concerning the Christian life. To practice the presence of God and to have an essential inner entity of the heart reality. As you know Jesus taught us, for He said; "blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God". Thanks for the post, bimonics. |
