| Be Still and Know That I am God |

How many times have we read this scripture and not really heard what it says? In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we tend to get caught up in the doing. Nothing wrong with doing, there is plenty to be done. 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
Is it that hard for us to just be still? That hard to listen for that still small voice? It is especially if all our time is spent in begging God for this and that. How much of my prayer life did I waste in begging God to help me or a loved one? What is begging God? It is unbelief! It is doubt that God will take care of us! Doubt God? How could I have ever? But I did. I did not fully understand just how loving and gracious our Heavenly Father is. For He is all of this and more.
4:16 Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help `us' in time of need. Yes we are to come boldly before the Throne of our Father. Boldness shows Faith. Faith that we are asking for our Fathers will and Faith that He will provide what ever the need may be.
No longer do I ask God to "Please, Please help me". I thank Him for His help, for He knows exactly what I need and when I need it. When I learned to accept things on God's timetable and not mine, and to accept the answer, I felt a weight lift from my shoulders. For instead of trying to manage things "my"way, I realize the perfect help comes just as it is needed.
Have I prayed for loved ones to be healed? Yes. Have they all been healed? Yes everyone of them. Sometimes they get well and lead a normal life again. Sometimes God took them home and gave them perfect healing, and perfect life.
When we pray Lord, Your Will Be Done. If we really mean it, the burden is lifted right then and there. So when we pray, just stop and listen. You will get your answer, the perfect answer.

| Yes, it is hard to be still!! I recall a time we became still and silent before God at a morning men's prayer breakfast. The silence screamed! It was VERY uncomfortable. And we only sat like that for about 5 minutes! I would still like to incorporate this practice into my daily routine, right in the middle of the day, around lunchtime. I already enjoy the stillness w/God in the morning, but feel a need to broaden my horizons, expand the practice. Probably soon! |

Mike n Laura, Hello and nice to meet you! I am brand new here. I am so glad to have wonderful people as yourself to connect with.
It is hard to be still, but with practice it does get easier. I find my day just goes better when I spend even a few quiet minutes with God each day.
Thank you for the comment.

| It did not take me long to learn to be still. When I was very young I would just sit for hours and people would ask me how I was just able to sit still. Patience on the other hand took some time to cultivate and we never stop learning how to be patient. I've learned to wait on God through many difficult trials that have shaped me and molded me. I remember the story of a sculptor that was asked how he was able to make such a beautiful statue of a horse. He told the man that it was easy. He just looked at the slab of marble and removed everything that did not look like a horse. We don't have to try to look like Jesus. We just need to allow him to remove everything that does not look like him! |

Prophet Jay, thank you for that most eloquent answer. You are so very right. Just allow Him to remove everything that does not look like Him...That is simply beautiful! |
