| Be Rich in the things of God |
|
| |
6:17 As for the rich in this world, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on uncertain riches but on God who richly furnishes us with everything to enjoy. 6:18 They are to do good, to be rich in good deeds, liberal and generous, 6:19 thus laying up for themselves a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life which is life indeed. The Apostle Paul gives us some good advice. Like it or not, whether you think yourself rich or not, if you live in "The West" chances are you are richer than most people in this world. We have been so richly blessed by God.
Here is your mission if you choose to accept it.
1. Do not be haughty. That is a fancy word for proud. So many people think themselves special because of ther wealth. Remember everything we have is a gift from God. It is He that gives us the power to created wealth.
2. Do not set your hopes on uncertain riches. Money does not last for long! It can go as quickly is comes. Money, is not something that can bring you security, because you can't take it with you. Just ask King Tut. As the old saying goes: "You never see a U-Haul behind a hearst.
3. Do Good! Of all people we need to be people of good works. We need to stir one another up to love and good works. In doing so we will glorify our Father in Heaven when men our good deeds.
4. Be rich in good deeds, liberal, and generous!
That is definitely one thing we should be liberal in! LOL In good deeds! Be generous give to everyone that asks of you. Be a cheerful giver, be kinds, considerate, compassionate, give your love away.!
When you do this you are laying up for yourself treasures in heaven where moth and rust can not destroy or decay, where thieves can not break in and steal, where the stock market won't crash, where the bank won't take your home. We are not of this world, so live like it! Give it all away for the glory of God and you will be repaid by God! In this life and in the next!
God Bless, Todd |

I accept the mission! "Be generous give to everyone that asks of you. Be a cheerful giver, be kinds, considerate, compassionate, give your love away" These are the things that add the flavor to life. If this is who we are, we are rich indeed!

You know what Todd...I AM BLESSED! Far more so than I want to admit to at times. This post is a good reminder to me that I am richer than most and that I truly have been given a mission! I do accept it and will do everything in my power to make God smile as I live it out! Great Word! |

This is funny Todd.. I was talking to a non believer last night, you know I love to sow seed. They wouldn't attend church because of "church people" I talked about how we ALL sin every day, and the things that God doesn't like much is Liars and Haughty people. I told him the greatest discraces to the Christian faith today is haughty Christians. He understood, and agreed to come sometime, course you know where this was, at the pool hall. He said he would go as long as it wasn't 3 hours long... HA.
As far as riches go, being unemployed I am NOT rich, but have found my riches working in the soup kitchens and sowing seeds, athough my credit cards can not handle making the bills any longer. I need a job before the unemployment runs out. Regardless, I will still make food for the homeless and take it in the day before my day to cook. It still works on my soul.
Nice post. |

As the old saying goes: "You never see a U-Haul behind a hearst.
I LOVE THAT!!!!!
We cannot take it with us so we might as well spread it around.... God has so much more for us and the intangible things that he has given us here (love, compassion, family, friends) is of so much more value than silver and gold (in our case green backs)...
He provides for our every need and I AM A WITNESS...
Great Blog - Thank you and Much Love |

| Powerful Blog Brother Todd....and yes we are blessed indeed...I am also reminded of Peter and John when they went into the temple and the lame man asked alms of them. They said silver and gold have I none, but such as I have....give I thee. Sometimes we may not have the money..but we can most certainly give them JESUS ;o) |

Mike: "Godliness with contentment is great gain!" We are rich...Jesus became poor that we might become rich. But, let us be first berich in the things of God and then all these things shall be added unto you.
Jacob: Thank you! Rich in Christ Amen?
Birdie: Freely you/me/we have received freely give! That is the essence of Christianity! Thank you |

Michael: Give and it shall be given unto you! That is a theme of the Kingdom. Jesus was the greates giver of all, may we grow to be like Him.
Patti: We show our faith by our works! A city on a hill can not be hidden! No man lights a candle and then covers it with a basket. Amen I like that part too!
Val: Like Martina McBride sang: "I have been blessed with so much more than I deserve!" I think it is so easy to look at what we don't have rather than to count our blessings in the things that we do have. God will honor your desire to live it out! You are blessed! |

Lara: OK I'll pay you $20,000 but it will have to wait until we get to heaven!
Becky: You are so right! Quoting Scripture right out the Bible! Of the 7 things that God hates is #1 is a proud look and #2 is a lying tongue. Excellent witnessing! As for being unemployed, you are laying up treasures in heaven girl! Jesus will not forget your labor of love, "As you have done unto the least of these you have done it untio me."
Cindy: Spoken like a true southern woman. Grits...A girl raised in the south. |

Mstovall: Much love back to you! That's right we can't take it with us! I love the old bumper sticker, "I'm spending my children's inheritance." The inheritance we are leaving our children and our children's children many not be houses and lands and money, but they will rise up and call us blessed! Because we are giving them somthing that the world can't take away! JESUS!
Pastor E: We are so rich, I don't even think we can comprehend all that we have. We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the Heavely Places in Christ Jesus. If God who offered up His own son for us, How will He not freely give us all things?

Marjay! But such as I have I give to thee, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk! We don't always have the things of this world, but we have the greatest thing of all, Jesus! Hope, power and peace what kind of price could be put on that??
Marilyn: Not as awesome as you! (Smile) Thanks for the kind words! They mean a lot to me!
Cheryl: Isn't it good to know that you are rich in God? Amen! You have a huge inheritance awaiting you.
RevStarr: You are very sweet to say such things. This world is passing away and all that is in it. But, one day you will stand before your Lord and Savior and hear Him say: "Well done! My good and faithful servant." |

As I reread this I'm reminded of a song that I sang in church.
As the world looks upon me, As I struggle along. And they say I have nothing, But they are so wrong. In my heart, I'm rejoicing, Oh, how I wish they could see. Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me.
There's a roof up above me, I've a good place to sleep. There's food on my table, And shoes on my feet. You gave me your love, Lord And a fine family Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me.
Now I know that I'm not wealthy, These clothes, they're not new. And I don't have much money, But, Lord, I have you And to me, that's all that matters, Though the world may not see Thank You, Lord, for your blessings on me! |

| Amen! That is a sweet song and I bear witness with that. I don't have a lot according to the standards of the world, to some I may have a lot, but I have Jesus and that is all that really matters. Thanks Cindy. |

Amen! I loved the part about not seeing U-Hauls behind hearses.
Where I grew up.... the stuff that was left? The vultures showed and got it all after the funeral. My grandma would sit back and just laugh like a little girl.
Me? I'm gonna let em have it before I go! |

| We all need to set our sights for the treasures that awaits for us in heaven and not on the things of this world. This is only but a short moment in time, a blink of an eye compared to eternity that we will one day spend with Him. |
