I'd like to tell you about a guy I know, his name is Terry.Terry has a string of very successful toy shops. He has a wonderful 8 bedded house all on suite, an orchard and massive grounds. His kitchen has been adapted to feed many people and has massive freezers and fridges.
The kids play house is more like a a wood cabin and I have never seen such a big swimming pool.
The only reason I have been so lucky to have seen this house and grounds is because my friend and I were invited to be baptised in his wonderful pool, as our church didn't have it's own facilities to do so. There were many people there that day & the sun shone.The BBQ was lit and was up and running with all sorts of goodies, Terry's son and daughter were handing out drinks. His wife was busy in the kitchen.
We sang songs of praise and then we went to the pool to be baptised, I held my breath thinking that it was going to be cold, it wasn't, it was beautifully warm. (This must have cost a bomb to heat it). Everyone had fun in the pool and then we all got dressed and was escorted into a large summerhouse where we were served up the beautiful food by Terry and his kids. Both myself and good friend tried on several occasions to thank Terry and his family but they would just scarper away, not wanting the thanks themselves.
We were so truly blessed that day and we couldn't thank God enough for them for making our day so special.

We also found out that he hired coaches to pick up local kids that didn't have much and they all had different activities to do. The main object was to thank God, He also gets his staff to bring along an unsaved person and again, Terry's family do all the serving and cooking and he invites a well known christian to come and preach to them. This may be done several times because of all the shops he has, and no doubt he does a whole lot more.
So this man has truly sought the Lord and asked what has to be done with it, and in turn he really is storing up treasures in heaven.
When God gives us the gift of being wealthy, it is up to us to seek God as to how it is distributed. God only gives wealth to the wise christian, one who will seek the Lord and ask " With this wealth Lord show me how to please you".
If you think about this passage, You really don't need wealth, money that is. You can store up treasures in heaven just by offering a tramp a sandwich and a hot drink. Doing the neighbours shopping. Just do good deeds,

6:17 As for the rich in this world, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on uncertain riches but on God who richly furnishes us with everything to enjoy. 6:18 They are to do good, to be rich in good deeds, liberal and generous, 6:19 thus laying up for themselves a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life which is life indeed. |
