I am sitting at home trying to process all that happened yesterday at church. So here it goes, I may ramble :). Joe Reid was sitting in the sound room after the service last night crying. Chris had just preached on knowing the will of God. I asked Joe what was going on and he said he couldn't understand why he couldn't go to Mexico this year. Because of circumstances beyond Joe's control he was unable to take this mission trip that he loves so much. We talked and prayed together, our conclusion; sometimes you just have to trust God even when you don't fully understand. But Joe's tears kind of summed up the heart of Faith. A heart for lost people, a heart for hurting people and heart big enough to welcome anyone. I hope we never change.
Our mission team modeled a real servant heart for us as the worked to sent a team to Mexico and then gave everyone cold drinks as they left church yesterday. John led two young boys to the Lord last week. They had been attending our Sunday School and church. Their mom called and said they were ready. Isn't that great? Let's keep planting the seed. Today is the last day of the month. April has been a tremendous month for Faith. We had the highest day of history on Easter Sunday and the month of April is now officially the all time record month for church attendance (390 avg.). This July it will be seven years since I was diagnosed with leukemia and I honestly thought my days of ministry were over. Little did I know God would not only allow me to live, but to live until our church reached these milestones. Has it been easy? No, but God's grace has been sufficient. Maybe your reading this blog and you feel your life is over. Maybe illness or a loss has so devastated your life that all hope is gone. Let me encourage you to hang in there, don't give up. God really does love you and He won't give up on you. In the words of the old hymn: Trust and obey, trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey It will probably take me several days to digest all that God did at Faith this week. But I just rejoice in His faithfulness and love in spite of our weakness. For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
