1:3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib; `but' Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
1:4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children that deal corruptly! they have forsaken Jehovah, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are estranged `and gone' backward.
We become forgetful of who we are at times when things are going well and our stomachs and purses are filled with the blessings that God has given to us by his mercy and goodness.
Have you ever heard the saying, "Dumd as an Ox"? Isa. don't seem to agree with that saying but he places the ox in the category of the grateful. The ox don't forget where the source of his food comes. The ox know the corn comes from the master's crib. Israel had for gotton the source of their need.
They started thinking that they were the source of whatever good that they were experiencing. God is still the source of our need. Don't forget IT!!
Oh, How easy it is to forget the source of our need when everything is going smoothly. We are so quick to give ourselves credit for the things that God has done in our lives.
