| ABIDE IN ME |
|
| |
15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
This "abide in me" is the all-inclusive condition for effective intercession. It is the key for prayer in the name of Jesus.
As we live this way, we develop what Thomas a Kempis calls "a familiar friendship with Jesus." We become accustomed to His face. We distinguish the voice of the true Shepherd from that of religious hucksters in the same way professional jewelers distinguish a diamond from glass imitations---by acquaintanceship. When we have been around the genuine article long enough, the cheap and the shoddy become obvious.

Indeed, Mary. A good Q to ask yourself and others: How well do you know God? Truly, it is now what you know about Him that matters most, but the knowing Him itself. Oh, my soul! ~Thanks. T. |

Hi Mary, you are on to something here. However, I wouldn't stop by simply stating 'abiding in Christ' is the all-inclusive condition for effective intercession. It is the all-inclusive condition for everything!
One thing I have learned in my short time with God. I cannot know Him. He is too great for my finite mind. Yet he knows me, and we can come to understand each other, so that we can have one will, one mind, one spirit.
From that one-ness is borne the spiritual fruit that is so necessary to be of any help to those around us. |

Yes indeed there is a big difference between knowing about the Lord and knowing Him intimately. "And now little children abide in Him, for when He shall we appear we may have confidence." |

| Oh you said a mouthful in this blog my sister....For truly there are a lot of counterfeit diamonds out there, trying to glitter like God, but they are imitation and not real.....It's only by spending time with the Father intimately...and spending time in HIS WORD can we be able to discern the real from the fake....It's His WORDS that leads us to Eternal Life....(For His WORDS are SPIRIT and they are LIFE). Then and only then...if we abide in Him, and HIS WORDS abide in us..can we ask what we will.....and it shall be given unto us ;o) |

Jonathan: I totally agree. He knows EVERYTHING about me and everyday I strive to know more and more of him. Knowing him comes from his WORD and the HOLY SPIRIT that guides me along the narrow road. It is my greatest wish that he shares all that he has for me and with me so I can continue to bring others to his feet. To know that he loves me enough to trust me with this task is awesome.
Marjay,Tonya,Brother Todd,Carol: Thanks so much for your words and thoughts - Love you Much |
