| A Future & Hope |
|
| |
29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare (good) and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Ah, one of my favorite verses! Did you know that God has a plan for you? Do you know that you are not a random chance or a mistake? Did you know that God created you to be you and to fulfill a purpose? Many of us struggle with a low self-esteem, thinking that we are not worthy to be loved or even blessed. But God knew you before the foundation of the world! He formed you in your mother's womb! You are fearfully and wonderfully made! You are the handiwork, the craftsmanship of God and He has ordained the paths you should walk in.
2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. The Proverbs tells us that we make the plans but God directs our steps. Everything we have ever gone through is not by mistake. Some experiences were self-inflicted where we stepped out of obedience with God and reaped the consequences for our sin. Yet some tough experiences that we have gone through were thrust upon us from someone else! This one is particularly hard for us to take and to understand. Many of us think to ourselves: "If God loves me and cares about me, why would He allow such things to happen to me?" That is a tough question and one that deserves to be asked. Many of us don't understand the sovereigty of God. Which means that God is in control, and is working all things together for His glory and His purposes. When we go through difficult times and still remain faithful to God it brings Him glory. Sometimes, God will deliver us FROM something and He will receive glory, and sometimes God will deliver us THROUGH something and receive glory. God often can prevent bad things from happening, but He chooses not to because there is a greater good involved. I could give you many examples of this from the Bible, but the point is that we need to relax in the fact that God is working things out. He never wakes up one morning and says to Himself, "Oh, the world has gotten out of hand, I need to do something." God has it under control and is accomplishing His purposes throughout the world.
8:28 We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. What is your future? God knows! He holds the future and He has made a promise to us that He is working things together for "good" and to "give us a future and a hope." Some may say, wait that promise was for the restoration of Israel how can you apply that to our life? Because God is not a discriminator of persons and all the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ Jesus! Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever! The God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph is your God too! He loves you just like He loved them. Were they exempt from struggles, and heart ache and problems? Of course not, yet God was faithful to them to bring them through and He used them to accomplish His purposes. It is the same for you and for me. Will we be exempt from pain and sorrow and trouble? Probably not! Yet, God will deliver us through these experiences and accomplish His purposes at the same time giving us a glorious future.
So for those of you "going through" the valley do not fear. The Lord is with you, and He will comfort you. Do not worry how things will turn out, because when it is all said and done, you are going to come forth as a radiant jewel that has been cut, and polished, and prepared to do the will of God and to bring glory to God. I speak peace to you today in your storm, because the Lord loves you, and He has great plans for you! He has plans for good and not for evil to give you a future and a hope!. So cheer up, and anticipate what God is going to do in your life! I can tell you it is going to be good for those that love Him!

This was so hard for me to accept at one point in my life. I have learned through the years to stand and let God take you through and at the end you will come out better than you could ever dream. The hard part is sticking it out. PRAISE HIM when times are rough, give Him all the glory and honor, He knows exactly what he is doing and how you will fare in the end. WE ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE IN HIS IMAGE \o/......
Thanks Brother Todd

| Amen and amen Bro Todd...this is one of my favorite verses too! It has brought me through alot and given me hope, when I failed to see hope. He has delivered me from alot, but the things that He has brought me through are where I truly grew in Him and I thank Him and praise Him for those times that He brought me out on the other side of the fire, more refined :) |

Carol & Mike: Peace be still! The Lord is has it under control. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord! Father, touch her right now in Jesus' name and let her know You are with her and that You are working all things together for her good.
Suga: Wonderful plans! For you too!
Mstovall: That is some tremendous wisdom you just shared! Perhaps you should blog on that! People need to know that God is faithful! Those of us who have been through the tough times, need to be able to encourage others, that it is going to be OK. Yes, it hurts when you go through, but when you go through it with Jesus it makes all the difference.! Thanks for posting your wisdom here! |

Very encouraging to read, Todd!
You know, before we can be comforted by God, sometimes we have to be reminded that he can comfort us, is willing to comfort us, and even wants to comfort us. Then we might realize that the only obstacle to receiving God's comfort is US!!
(Why can't I give this two stars?) |

Elizabeth: It is funny isn't it? We know what God says and we have heard His word many times, yet we always struggle to believe it or at the very least rest in it. It is my pleasure to encourage you and to remind you of what you already know! God has your situation in hand!
Michael: Telling me to "preach on" is like saying sick em to a bull dog! Thanks and I appreciate your comment as I know you love the Word! |

| Mike: Hey, create an account for Laura then you can give out double stars! lol Seriously, though that is a powerful comment! We have to trust God to comfort us. It is like that verse in Hebrews 11:6 where is says: "For he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him." In order for us to receive from God we have to believe He is able to supply that what we need. We are the BIGGEST obstacles to anything God wants to do in our life. That is why as yesterday's verse says, "The just shall live by faith." We have to trust God and once we do the possibilities are endless of what He can and will do for us and through us, and even in us! |

You know something, Todd, I have actually come to a place in God where I actually believe that verse with all my heart. I recieved yet another job rejection today; instead of respnding in despondance or frustration, I just smiled and thought to myself: God has a plan..a good plan. Then I read your blog which confirmed my thoughts. |

Brother Todd, this is a great blog, very up lifting... Our God is truly awesome isn't He? I don't know how anyone can go through life with out Him. But they do. I couldn't, and I am glad I don't have to. God bless you and your family. |

You are such a comforting man. You take a topic that I know and believe, and tell it to me again, but in such a way that it seems as though it's the first time I've ever heard it before. ( I read it twice, silently and aloud)
After that? I either cry, or print it out to keep. So... in essence, you're like a nice cup of tea, with honey and lemon. :-) |

RevStarr: Sorry to hear you didn't get that job, but as my Mom used to say, "What is for you won't go by you." In other words, God is working it out for us. It is so hard to wait on Him sometimes, and to be quite honest the Lord always seems to scare me to death! But, He comes through! I am very proud of your attitude and your faith! God has something for you just wait and see!
Marilyn: Isn't that such a comforting truth? To know that we don't go through it alone! I can't imagine what life would be like without Him and His presence. You are a precious sister! Thank you, for blessing me with your kind words.
Joey: If you cry it will smudge the ink! :) Those are such beautiful words to me. You have no idea, maybe I will send you an email sometime about my "story" but your words confirm my ministry too. So many times we think when we read these blogs they are for us,(the reader) but in truth they are just as much for the writer. Everytime I receive a kind word it just lifts my spirits and makes me feel useful for God. So thank you for ministering to me. |
