When on the internet the other night looking up some sermons by Francis Chan, I ran across a video on You Tube with a song written and performed by Kendal Payne. As I watched this video, God began to move in my heart in a powerful way. All week, I have kept my mind on the message of this song and what God calls us to...TRUST. I had to share :)
Before Kendal sang, she told this story about Mother Theresa. Mother Theresa was once approached by a man who was looking for God’s will in his life. He came to her asking for prayer so that the man would have completely clarity for his life and he would know beyond a shadow of doubt where God was leading him. He asked her to pray this because he thought she had received ultimate clarity from God thorughout her life. She told the man she would not do this. Looking confused and upset, he asked why. She responded saying there had never a moment in her life that God gave her clarity on a situation but clarity on his word. What she had been given the gift of trust. So she prayed for him to learn trust.

PRAY by Kendal Payne
I will pray for you now
For you have been my faithful friends
While the road we walk is difficult indeed
I could not ask for more than what you’ve already been
Only that you would say these prayers for me
May your heart break enough that compassion enters in
May your strength all be spent upon the weak
All the castles and crowns you built and place upon your head
May they all fall come crashing down around your feet
And may you find every step to be harder than the last
So your character grows greater each stride
May your company be of humble insignificance
May your weakness be your only source of pride
What you do unto others may it all be done to you
May you meet the one who made us
And see him smile when life is through
And may your blessings be many
But not what you hoped they’d be
And when you look upon the broken
May mercy show you what you could not see
May you never be sure of any plans you desire
But you’d learn to trust the plan he has for you
May your passions be tried and tested in the holy fire
May you fight with all your life for what is true
I have prayed you now all my dear and faithful friends
But what I wish is more than I could ever speak
As the way wonders on I’ll long to see you once again
Until then, would you say these prayers for me?
Oh that you would pray for me.

Afterward, Francis Chan talked about how we are always praying for God to change things (hardship, trials, decision, directions, challenges, opportunities, etc.) Instead maybe we should be praying for God’s strength to change us and our heart. He desires for a change of our heart so we can grow to be wise in his word. Form this trust, God can grow us in his truth so when those times of difficulty and choice come, we have the wisdom to make decisions through Him.
How often I find myself guilty of looking to Him for answers that will bring me comfort when maybe the real prayer should be about bringing Him glory and His heart being revealed to the world through the circumstances I may face, good or bad. Its shouldn't be about a life of comfort. This song challenged me to a heart of change. I hope it does the same to you, my friends. Thank you for being my accountability and showing a little of God to me everyday through your love. Thank you to my dear friends!
