As Christians we must always remember that we are sometimes the only Jesus a person sees. A heavy responsibility, yes, but one we are called to nonetheless. Non-believers are always ready to jump on something we do or say, asking how we can call ourselves Christians and do or say the things we do. We respond with bumper stickers saying "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven."
2:14 Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged.
But we see that the natural man can't understand spiritual things, and the spiritual man can't understand the natural. Fear is not of the Lord, but we must keep a healthy fear, or respect, for the witness we bear.
The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today Is Christians Who acknowledge Jesus with their lips Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable. DC Talk
What if I stumble? What if I fall?
Is this one for the people? Is this one for the Lord? Or do I simply serenade for things I must afford? You can jumble them together, my conflict still remains Holiness is calling, in the midst of courting fame
Cause I see the trust in their eyes Though the sky is falling They need Your love in their lives Compromise is calling What if I stumble, what if I fall? What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all? Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl? What if I stumble, and what if I fall?
What if I stumble, what if I fall? You never turn in the heat of it all What if I stumble, what if I fall?
Father please forgive me for I can not compose The fear that lives within me Or the rate at which it grows If struggle has a purpose On the narrow road you've carved Why do I dread my trespasses will leave a deadly scar
Do they see the fear in my eyes? Are they so revealing? This time I cannot disguise All the doubt I'm feeling
What if I stumble? Everyone's got to crawl when you know that You're up against a wall, it's about to fall Everyone's got to crawl when you know that
I hear You whispering my name "My love for You will never change"
What if I stumble, what if I fall? You never turn in the heat of it all What if I stumble, what if I fall? You are my comfort, and my God
Is this one for the people, is this one for the Lord?
Amen! as we learn to rely upon God and His infinite Power, our falls will be few and far in between...If we do stumble, if we do fall He who is faithful can and will restore us...Praise God! Jude 1:24 Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory! with exceeding joy.... Nice Blog!
The bible gives us a recipe to keep us from falling. I was going to write it here but the Spirit just told me to write about it in my next blog. So that's what I'm going to do!
This was a powerful blog Carol...I really liked the part about the cause of atheism in the world today....So sad but true....Help us God to be living episles before this dying world ;o)
Carol, this a awesome blog... It is said in truth and love... It really must be said..you see it sometimes... My Pastor, warns against this a lot in church... I think he would rather Christians for go the bumper stickers...lol But if we do have them and ware things on our shirts we should behave accordingly. but we should do this regardless of any props...
Lara, I know what you mean. It is a process, and we do stumble, and sometimes we are hypocrites. But what you said is the key...to not make excuses for our sin, and to move forward each and every day - baby steps, one day at a time - it is a process. And the scrutiny! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm with you!
Marilyn, Thanks! I remember once being in a restaurant with a wonderful Christian friend who was giving the waitress a really hard time, all while wearing a "Jesus Loves Me" t-shirt! When he realized what he'd done, he felt sick. God Bless You, as well!
Amen, Brother! I wish they hadn't broken up - I think they (DC Talk) were better together than they are apart! And you're right, ya gotta keep on keepin' on!
Ooooh...Lovely! I'm a little ashamed to say I never heard (or saw) this until now. I've got to add it my list of favorites and check out the group. (Eeeks...my background is largely classical and Sacred Harp...)
Bookish, never mind the embarrassed smiley face! I discover things all the time that other people know as "old news!" Anyway, DC Talk broke up in 2000 to pursue solo careers. Toby McKeehan (aka Toby Mac) has been the most successful on his own, but the other two - Kevin Max Smith and Michael Tait - also have solo material. I don't like any of the three of them apart as well as I did together...their Greatest Hits CD is really good. Some of their lyrics are pretty heavy. You've probably heard "Jesus Freak, and another one I really like is "Colored People." Mike, I know! I saw that! What is it they say about great minds? LOL, JK...you're WAY ahead of me, brother!
