I didn't know what to do with that one, it didn't fit the pattern....lol. Just call me Monk.

Good one Linda, thanks! Rom 2:11

NIV - "For God does not show favoritism."
KJV - "For there is no respect of persons with God."
NASB - "For there is no partiality with God."

Meaning we all have an equal opportunity to know God and walk with him, from the richest of us to the poorest! (Calvinism aside for the moment)

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that He should lie...

and thanks ;)

Num 23:19 - good one LaT! Phrased as a negative instead of the positive pattern (Monk strikes again!) but worthy of our list. In fact, I might edit the blog....

Mike, love the list!  You should check out what happens if you end the code behind that last link with =51; instead of your old standby =49!

Hey where is God Is my counselor and comforter? or are those just Becky confusion thoughts.

Good comment Dee Dee. Maybe the next list should be the "I AM" list! (Todd would appreciate that too!)

Oh Joey!

Becky, I found 697 instances of "love" in the NIV (763 in the NLT/paraphrase), 683 in the ESV, 494 in the NKJV, 484 in the NASB, and 442 in the KJV. (Why so many fewer in the KJV? Did they use a different word for love back in the days of merry olde England???)  By comparison, "wrath" shows up 190 times in the NIV and 197 in the KJV. Well, I guess it's comforting that God isn't getting any angrier!

Thanks Liz. Boy we get an interesting and endearing picture of who God is when we look at it this way.

Doyle, thanks bro! Sadly I did not find "God is a dancer"  :-(  (Though that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy watching us do it!!)

Thanks Margie- Yes, I am too!

Thanks for the God-honoring post.

There's a line in the novel, The Shack, in which God says, "I am a verb. I am who I am. I will be who I will be."

Amen GrammyB -- and the list of wonderful attributes gets even longer when considering the "Lord is" and "He is" statements as well!

Glad to be praising him with you, Elizabeth!

Thanks Deb!  This has been more than a reminder to me, but also a path to greater closeness w/God...a way to meditate on God's character. I love taking the focus off me and putting it on Him!

Joey, you're crazy! (and very endearing)

MMM... about that forgetfull thingy, after we ask for forgiveness, doesn't he forget our sins?
Mike n Laura
September 03, 2008
lol... Patti, honestly what I had in mind was, God does not forget his promises. But...since you mentioned it, I know God says he will "remember their sins no more." (Jer 31:34, Isa 43:25)  But we can't honestly believe that God, who is all knowing, will somehow forget they happened. I believe (and I think most commentators agree) the general thought is that he will never bring them up again as a basis for judgment or wrath. They are as good as forgotten. Does this sound fair? :-)

ps... Great comment Patti. I adore that about our Father, that when he forgives he really forgives!
