Read some in Hebrews today on my lunch hour. Hebrews is an awesome book. The whole bible is awesome. But Hebrews has some great truths. There are some weighty doctrinal discussions in the book - but there are a lot of simple promises and truths too.....
One verse that I pulled out that I liked was Hebrews 12:7
12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
I kind of like the NIV translation a little better...."Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons..."
God disciplines us because he loves us....we should praise him for that. It's not natural for us to praise when we are being corrected - but that is what we are commanded to do.....
3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: 3:12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son [in whom] he delighteth.
i read the first 3 chapters of hebrews today and realized how much I LOVE it too, I love hebrews 2:9... for some reason it really brings a tear to my eye to think God became a man to show us the way!
