| The Jews were dead on! |

8:1 "All the commandment which I command you this day you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to give to your fathers. 8:2 And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. 8:3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD. My best friend is Jewish. She's this amazing young woman with so much spirit that one cannot help but love to be with her....but I always wonder about her Jewish beliefs vs. my Christian beliefs. They seem so skewed sometimes, the rituals and little tasks here and there that seem to get one nowhere...but seeing this verse reminds me of how the Lord was preparing the Jews for salvation long before Christ was born. The parallel between this verse and salvation is not anything difficult to see, but I had to laugh to myself. I've gone through that desert and asked the Lord what he was doing with me in a strange land without the comforts of home, and HE fed me manna, increasing my strength through him and creating in me a hunger for the word of God I'd never experienced before. Praise the Lord, through him all things are possible! |
