| Jesus: my Joy |

8:1 "All the commandment which I command you this day you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to give to your fathers. 8:2 And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. 8:3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD. I am simply lost without Jesus. One of my favorite contemporary christian songs: "Breath" says it so profoundly. I am desperate for Jesus.
"That he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart..." I am grateful that Jesus has humbled me. I am grateful that he loves me enough to inspect my heart. Every morning I wake up, blessed, more in love with Jesus than yesterday. Jesus is my joy. One of my church members said to me Sunday: "Rev. Wright you radiate with your love for Jesus, You are so beautiful." I was so humbled by her comment. I cried tears of joy, because honestly that is exactly what I want people to see when they look at me: my love and my passion for Jesus.
This journey, this this year has been a wilderness. Yet, I praise Jesus, I serve Jesus with joy, and I consider that my sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in me! It is not so important to me that I posses the land. My joy is in knowing that Jesus has a destiny designed for me. It is his purpose to get me out of the desert and to that destiny. Praise God, I hunger and I thirst for his righteousness! And, Jesus has fed me--my spirit, my mind, and my physical body; he has given me full meals time and time again.
I say all these things to encourage you: my brothers and sisters, but I am compelled to also say this: THERE IS GLORY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DERSERT! THERE IS HOPE AND PROMISE, JUST BEYOND THE TESTING! THERE IS VISION AND PURPOSE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, RIGHT NOW! Thank you Jesus that we do not live on bread alone! |

| Amen to that. Even in the dryest of times God's living water refreshes. You will fullfill God's call on your life, and you will possess the land. |

I too love that song "Breathe". It was the first worship song I can ever remember weeping to, years ago, back when Vineyard's Hungry was released. How about that. Joy begats obedience, which begats more joy. An endless cycle, if only we can get into that mode. Love the blog, thanks Starr! |
