8 Lead out those who have eyes but are blind,
who have ears but are deaf.
Father's Day of this year, I took my husband and children to Downtown Boston. We stayed at the Marriott Hotel. That Monday, we took the children to Faneuil Hall. The day was simply beautiful.
On our way back to the hotel, we were getting ready to cross a busy street. My husband was trying to keep the children safe. My husband said, "Okay. Let's cross." Then he quickly added, "No. Wait. Wait." I noticed that there was a man next to me.
He wasn't an ordinary man however. He was blind and was listening to my husband and I, so he would know when to cross the street. Immediately, I recognized the situation at hand. As my husband spoke about crossing the street, I made sure to repeat his statement loudly because the old blind man was listening to us. I felt as though this man was one of my children. Some situations in our lives will have us feeling like children in need of a parent.
Then when my husband and I said it was safe to cross, the man latched on to my arm. Goosebumps immediately covered me, for I felt so honored to lead this man across a busy street. After crossing the first street, I said "We're safe now," but the man held on to me and signaled that he wanted to cross the next street, and I complied. I knew God was in that situation.
When the man went on his way, I told my husband and children about the significance of that moment. I told them the man could have been an angel. I also told them God probably wanted to see how I would react. Some people don't want strangers touching them, but Christ had a woman (Mary) who shed tears on His feet. We are here on earth to serve. That's it!
A few days later, I read Isaiah. The passage was talking about leading the blind, and the Lord told me He would use me to lead the blind. Now, I feel blind myself (at times), but the Lord knows me better than I know myself. I am just so happy I was able to become two eyes for that blind man.
Can you become two hands for someone? Can you become two feet for someone? Can you become a voice to someone?
I actually fell in love with my husband when he lifted his mother who had MS, changed her diapers, and bathe her. I said to myself and others, that's the man I am going to marry.
Be a servant today!
