That is the summary of my night last night at Faith. My Wednesday night teen class went really well. We filled out a really nice sympathy card, and then I asked the teens to actually write a few sentences and maybe include a verse of scripture on a separate note card. What is this for you ask? This is part of a care package that the FBC Youth Group is sending to the parents of the VT shooter. This older couple is being largely neglected and even blamed through this tragedy. We want to break away from that pattern and show them Chrits's love. We are also going to include a dvd of Bro. Billy's sermon on Brokeness. Please be praying that God uses this package from a church in a small Virginia mountain town to dynamically and powerfully invade their hearts with His changing love and grace. Well, as far as the keys go, Casey Mentz had some drama after the class ended because she realized that she locked her keys in the jeep. It has power locks though, so the old hanger trick wouldn't work. It was so cool the way several teens and adults rallied around to see if there was something they could do to help. Finally, when nothing was working, Leann and I drove her over to her apartment where another set of keys were. So, she was able to be on her way, and we still got home in time for American Idol! I really praise God for a great night with the teens, and the ability to be part of such a caring church family that goes into action with serving others when a need arises. A lot of people talk a good talk, but we have a lot of folks who walk the walk! Hey, in case you're curious, Phil and Chris got sent home. My favorite singer, Blake is still there! Woo-Hoo. Well, have a great day. Chris |
