All too often I find people are far too concerned with their appreance. Are they wearing the right clothes? Are they keeping up with the latest hair trends? Do they look as good as the person they're standing next? I mean yes, there is no getting away from the fact that in this day in age, we must look good to get anywhere in life. Because, after all, we are taught from the very beginning that we only get one shot at making a good first impression and usually that impression has a lot to do with the way we present oursleves in an outward manner. But in the grand scheme of things, if you really, truly think about, none of that matters. God doesn't care if we're wearing designer jeans and the next big name in the fashion industry. He does not care if we wear only the finest jewelry money can buy and do our hair to match America's Next Top Model. These things are but a grain of sand, if not smaller, when we look at the greater picture here... I think that if everyone put as much effort into their relationship with God that they do when getting ready to go anywhere in the morning, we would be doing ourselves the biggest favor of all. People don't get to see who we are or what we're all about most of the time because we're all too busy trying to fit into a material world. We shouldn't be doing this. Instead, we should be spending out time trying to getting into an immaterial world; a world that offers each and everyone of us eternal life with our Father and Creator. He does not worry Himself with the clothes that we put on our bodies, but how we dress our souls, our inner most beings. This is the area that concerns Him most. And as such, we need to let our inner lights shine through and spread the glory of God that we have to those around us whose light may not be shining so brightly. We are so blessed with the love of God and very seldom do it share it with others. Its time to take a stand, tkae a risk, and throw ourselves out there and share our God with the rest of His children instead of standing in the background, hiding behind our fancy clothes, blending in with the rest of the world... 3:3 Let not yours be the outward adorning with braiding of hair, decoration of gold, and wearing of fine clothing, 3:4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. |
