How do you sum up 35 years? Tomorrow my wife, Elaine, and I will celebrate 35 years of marriage. The time has gone by so fast, it just seems like yesterday we were standing in my pastor's living room in Lynchburg, Virginia exchanging our vows. We had to go get one of his renters, Dennis, to be our witness. :) As we headed out to Winston Salem on our honeymoon, I looked across the seat and there was my beautiful young bride. Boy we were nervous, even though we had been dating for several years, we didn't really know each other. So here I sit at a computer typing almost 35 years later, where did it go? Someone wisely said the key to a good journey is good company, they were right on, Elaine has been a great traveling buddy. We have been through the good, the bad and the ugly. She has stayed right by my side. She loved me when I was good and when I was bad. She loved me when I failed and she loved me when I succeeded. What does 35 years look like: - The death of her mom from cancer
- The birth of a little boy who changed our lives forever (Rob man you the man)
- A little basement apartment on Parkwood Lane that will always be a special spot
- The birth of a dream called Faith Baptist Church
- Our very own house at 537 Brentwood Drive that God gave to us (really, ask me)
- The birth of a little girl who would steal our hearts (love you Nee)
- The death of Mom and Pop Price (still miss you guys)
- Cancer scares with Elaine (all clear PTL)
- Hairy Cell that is not a terrorist group, it is a form of Leukemia (thanks Hon for hanging in)
- Building programs (six of them, sorry Elaine for the long hours)
- GRAND BABIES . . .four in and two on the way :) better than sliced bread
- Staff, not the infection, but the people we work with and God has given us great ones
- Pizza, lots of pizza, Elaine likes pizza
- Church family that took us in and made us a part of your family (We love you guys)
I know guys are not suppose to "share" so I was just stating facts. :) Elaine is upstairs recovering from surgery she had on Wednesday. She is doing well, this is just another dot on our journey of life. We won't be able to do much celebrating on the day, but we will make up for it later. Thanks Honey for 35 years, it has been great. You make a great traveling buddy. :) Ready for another road trip? |
