Isaiah 53: 2-6
The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling,
a scrubby plant in a parched field.
There was nothing attractive about him,
nothing to cause us to take a second look.
A rose
Describes life you know.
Next time you see one,
Study it before you go.
A rose
Is like shiny gold
That captures your eyes
As it begins to unfold.
A rose
Is like a silk shirt
That softens the heart
From sadness and hurt.
A rose
Is like a bride and groom
As they unite
In love’s upper room.
Roses
Are marvelous ideas you see,
That change the world
Till it becomes a fancy tapestry.
But roses
Are mysterious as well.
This is what their beauty
At times don’t often tell.
Their thorns
Seem to disappear
As you view only
Their beauty that appear.
Then again,
A thorn symbolizes sin,
At first looking so good
Until it sticks us like a pin.
Thorns are
The hidden sins behind grace
That deceive us all
From even recognizing our own face.
But praise God!
Those thorns
Created God’s love for us.
The way He loves sinful people
With trust and without a fuss.
Thorns
Represent fallen humanity,
But rose petals
Represent Christianity.
Dearly Beloved,
Resist the thorns
And live God’s way.
Accept the Rose of Sharon
Today I pray.
