Wow! Revelation...I love when I am delivered a message! I had an Ah Hah Moment this morning during my devotion time because both my devotion from Charisma Magazine online and the Daily Bible Verse from MyChurch spoke about Walking in the Light. Needless to say, as a relatively new believer of 4 years and baptized with the Holy Spirit a year and a half ago, I still find myself in the darkness quite often. Usually, it is because I fall back on my self-will and use my fallible earthly efforts to no avail...my best efforts keep me in the shadows. I have heard many sermons, instructing me to "get in the word" so I may know light, but it wasn't until this morning that this message I had heard over and over from the pulpit, pierced my thick skull! OK God, Thank You for delivering me this message once again, I finally get it! Dear Lord, I proclaim that you are light! Draw me closer to you and deliver me from darkness. I know that if seek your light and stay in your word, you will illuminate the narrow path that lays before me. Oh sweet Jesus, live in me, that your light will drive out Satan's darkness and draw others to your Kingdom. Amen, Amen and Amen!
Drive Out Darkness Today's message is from Mike Bickle. Darkness is driven out of the human spirit by the light of the revelation of Jesus Christ through the Word of God. No darkness in the life of a sincere believer has the force to overpower His light. Attempting to drive the darkness out of our hearts by ourselves is frustrating and futile, but when the person of Christ is unveiled to us, and His light enters our hearts, the darkness flees. We can’t empty out the darkness to make room for light. Rather, we allow the light to enter, and darkness is automatically overpowered. We wear ourselves out by trying to prepare and make way for more light by focusing on trying to drive out the darkness. Instead, we should indirectly attack the darkness in our lives by focusing on the release of more light. Satan is not intimidated by the shouts and boasts of believers who do not have an intimate relationship with Jesus. He knows that as long as darkness reigns unchallenged and unconquered in many areas of their own lives, those believers pose no real threat to his kingdom. Jesus is the One whom Satan fears. If believers are not filled with the reality and knowledge of Christ, Satan knows it is only a matter of time until they will become victims, not victors. On the other hand, Satan is troubled by believers who are undistracted from the purity and simplicity of devotion to Jesus. He flees before the sword of the Spirit when it is wielded by men and women who have a history of faithfulness and obedience through their intimacy with God. TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, draw me closer to you.
1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; 1:7 but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. |
