As you you might have guessed from the title of this entry, this is the first in a series of postings to help you learn your way around this site. I know some of you are already familiar with the internet and are probably far more advanced than I am. These blogs are for those of you who don't spend a lot of time on social networking sites and are unfamiliar with how they work.
Okay, now that's out of the way...
Ever wonder how to leave a picture comment when you visit someone's page? You can do it! Awwww, now... I see you shaking your head, but believe me, it's a lot easier than you think. Just follow the instructions below:
Create an account with an on-line photo-hosting site. There are lots of them out there, and many of them are free. Do a GOOGLE or YAHOO search for free photo hosting. I use Photobucket.com Once you've signed up with a service, upload the graphics you want to use. If you don't have any, you can do another search, or maybe the service you chose has a search engine within the site. Many of the sites will let you divide your photos and graphics into folders, which is what I do, so that I don't have to spend time searching for the right graphic. For example, I have a folder called, Welcome, and one called Happy Birthday.
The following instructions are for Photobucket ONLY. Each service is different, so you'll have to play it by ear if you use another service.
Click on the album of your choice. For our purposes here, let's say we clicked on Welcome. That page will transition to a new one that displays the graphics in the Welcome album. Choose a graphic you'd like to add to someone's comment, then click on, "direct link." A little yellow box will pop up that says, "Copied," meaning the link has been automatically copied in your browser. Now return to the MyChurch page where you want to post the comment, and click "add comment." When the comment window opens, click on the "photo" icon (located on the MyChurch toolbar.) It looks like this:
The link will open in a new window, and will have options for adding photos. Choose Image URL and hit, "CTRL V", or "Insert" from your Edit button on your browser toolbar. This will insert the URL address. Click INSERT on the Insert/edit image window, then close it. The image you chose will appear in the Content box for the comment.
That's it! Now you can add text either above or below the image and you're done. I know it sounds like a lot, but once you get the hang of it, it's really simple. Practice a little, and before you know it, you'll be leaving beautiful comments for everyone you know.
Have fun! |
