The House of the LORD

The Scriptures below are pretty much self-explanatory, as well as, pretty interesting...I had never thought about it before, but a friend of Jimmy's and mine once asked why David was glad when they said unto him, "Let us go into the house of the LORD." ...I thought it was simply because David loved the LORD so much, (which he did!), but apparently there was something more.  Read the law in Deuteronomy 23:2 and then look into Jesus' genealogy in Matthew Chapter 1 and then do the math...Because Judah had his twin sons Perez and Zerah illegitimately with Tamar, according to the law in Deut. 23:2, neither Judah nor his descendants for ten generations would be admitted into the house of the LORD...No wonder King David was glad because now he was free to go to the place that he  sought after that he may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of his life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.  

Psalm 122 (21st Century King James Version)
 1 I was glad when they said unto me, "Let us go into the house of the LORD."

Deuteronomy 23:2 (New Living Translation)

 2 “If a person is illegitimate by birth, neither he nor his descendants for ten generations may be admitted to the assembly of the Lord.
Matthew 1 (21st Century King James Version)
 1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.

   
 2 Abraham begot Isaac, and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brethren.

   
 3 And Judah begot Perez and Zerah  by Tamar, and Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Aram,

   
 4 and Aram begotAminadab, and Aminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,

   
 5 and Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, and Obed begot Jesse,

   
 6 and Jesse begot David the king.



27:4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

I thought it was fascinating too Lynda...I had never thought of it before until our friend said something about it...It really stood out to me and made me wonder how much more I'm missing when I read the Scriptures...It's amazing to me that God uses parables, math, geography, genealogy, poetry, songs (Psalms), etc. in His Word....The list goes on and on...If a person could just analyze and figure all this stuff out, it would be pretty amazing what we could find.

Very cool Vicky!! This makes me think of the study we are doing on Daniel and how it is just layer upon layer upon layer of wisdom in every line!!!  His WHOLE WORD is that way and it just amazes and awes me!!!!  Thank you for sharing this....I LOVE diggin in like this! :)  Thank you for my Winnie the Pooh too!! :) love you!

Thank you Joni!!! I love Bible study when I am able to sit down and actually study...I agree with you that God's whole Word is filled with wisdom in each and every line!!!  We are at the stage where we are beyond the milk of the Word, we desire strong meat...When we have that kind of meal, I want to dig in too! :)  Oh, you are welcome for the Winnie the Pooh...He is one of my
