I am doing well in my classes; maintaining a 98% average thus far. The course requirements are tough. Each section of instruction is testable and if you fail a test you are out of the class. Depending on the circumstances a retest may be offered, but there's no guarantee.
Life in San Angelo, Tx is typical of deep south living. Like New England nobody here drives the speed limit. The big difference is that in New England everybody drives over the speed limit while everyone here drives under the speed limit. Those few folks who are speeding are clearly not from around here. It has rained a lot. Though the humidity is much higher it has cooled the temperature to the high 80s to lower 90s and everyone is pleased with the break in the temperature. Those with allergies are suffering a bit more, however, because the rain has caused the grass and the flowers and the trees to profusely pollinate.
After academics my second priority is fitness. The older I get the more important fitness becomes and I am doing well with this too. My 1.5 mile (outdoor) run is now under 14 minutes and my 2.2 mile (outdoor) run is at about 21 minutes. On the stationary bike I'm up to 15 miles in 60 minutes (using random hills program). For my bike/run combo (indoor treadmill/stationary bike) workout I can get in a 2 mile run followed by a 3 mile bike in about 33 minutes. These represent big improvements since June this year.
As you can imagine the mexican and bbq restaurants are plentiful and excellent. I plan to try the steak this weekend. I think it would be very easy to get fat were I to live here long term. -- Ritch Davis ================================== I will be strong and corageous, I will not be afraid or dismayed, because the Lord my God is with me wherever I go. ================================== Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 (New King James Version) |
