Just got up from my Sunday ritual (nap :) thought I would share a few thoughts about this AM at Faith. I thought the services were powerful as men lined the front of the church in both services making a commitment to be the leaders in the home God intended them to be. We were continuing in our Heaven Help The Home series. I have to fess up though, I am reading a book that shaded my sermon this morning. In this book David Murrow states that men are looking for a cause to live and die for, what better or more worthy cause that getting our families to Heaven? Being the leaders God intended us to be?
Murrow talks about the difference in men and women, he uses the illustration of chick flicks and guy movies. In one you see a lot of talking, sharing and tears. In the other things blow up and the man rescues his family from certain danger.
Enter man's attraction to action. He wants a cause maybe this explains the success of movies like Spider man 3 and TV shows like 24. I really believe Murrow is on to something. Check out his site
Couldn't we as a church step up and give them the greatest cause of all, the cause of Jesus Christ? What would happen in the church if men stepped up to the plate and became the leaders in their homes God intended them to be?
