38:1In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. 38:2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, 38:3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done [that which is] good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 38:4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, 38:5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. 38:6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city. Here's the story of a righteous king that is sick and receives word from God that he's going to die.Being that thus saith the Lord, applies here there is a certainty that Hezekiah was going to die. It's not a maybe, you'll die it was a get your house in order the death angel is coming. Hezekiah didn't take this news very well, he turned his face to the wall and he begin to pray. Actually, I believe he said to God, you got to gimme something. He begin to remind the Lord, how that he walked upright and had a perfect heart, how that he keep the commandments. He begin to weep probably not for himself, but for those he would leave behind that knew not the Lord God.He weep sorely in that Hezekiah was all business with touching God. God heard the prayer and called for Isaiah to come and receive farther instructions for Hezekiah. When we pray through as Hezekiah did the Lord changed his mind to extend the life of this righteous man by 15 years. That was only part of the blessing God had for Hezekiah the other part, he was going to give him a victory over his enemy the Assyrian's .When you get to the place that your backs against the wall, there is a God that willing to meet your every need, if you'll say Lord you got to gimme something. He promised that the righteous would never beg for bread. He promised he would never to leave nor forsake you, to go even unto the end of the world.God is no respector of persons, what he did for others he'll do for you. With arms wide open, he'll carry you, it is no secret what God can do. |
