| Foreshadowing Great Things - The Bible is Famous for This |
|

The Bible, practically from the point of the expulsion from the Garden of Eden, is continually foreshadowing one incredible event that will lead to bigger, better things to come. That event is the birth of Jesus Christ. Though there are many different verses that pursue this foreshadowing, the one I will focus on today is in the Old Testament book of Isaiah. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
This is absolute foreshadowing, telling the future if you will, that soon a child will be born of miraculous means, a son - and read this, the government will be his work. Government? You may wonder what that means, but what they're actually discussing is the Church, because in those days the church created more laws than any other body. Look at the names given to the Savior as early as the book of Isaiah, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Recognize this, they consider the Prince of Peace as being OF GOD even before He was born, long before He was born. Now, we know from reading the gospels of the New Testament, that Jesus indeed was the human form of the Everlasting Father our Mighty God. It's recognizable in the way He walks through the streets all over Israel and beyond, teaching, healing, comforting, spreading peace, sharing friendship, love and more. This is one thing God had wanted us to have from the beginning, but because of our free will, we didn't just ask for it, we thought we could create it by ourselves. It's a tough lesson to realize sometimes we need God's help to create that which we crave the most, peace, inner peace, which can spread to others. This is the word and the life as brought to us by the Prince of Peace, our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, Amen and so it shall be.
