Birdie:  You are one of my favorite writers and I wish you would write more.  Who can say they have really given it all up to God?  If we have, then we would be perfect.  However, if we will deny this old "sarx" then the life of Christ can be made manifest in it.  You alluded to John the Baptist, "He must increase and I must decrease"  How beautiful is that?  It is the essence of the Spirit-filled life. Oh, to be totally submerged, covered up that they would see Jesus and not me.  That is a great word Birdie thank you for sharing.

To live for Christ, we must die .

Barvubuela: Shannon, how many people are watching your pilgrimage...both from the 'native country' and from TAC ...and wondering 'what kind of faith is this?'

Live it transparently...because the 'submerged life' is not left unscathed by the pain of sacrifice
. But live it all, triumphantly ...because you have a unique gift to share; the joy that comes from recklessly abandoning all for the call...that is a testimony seldom heard, and much needed.

To quote some song writer friends of mine...'Is this life...is it real?'  It is not just passages from an antiquitated book. Holiness, Godliness, Sanctification, Consecration ...are not just 'ideals' we can never attain...they are the ancient paths, the 'narrow way' that few ever find. This way may seem foreign and at times so uncomfortable...but I am convinced...persuaded...that comfort zones are a big fat trap to those who follow Christ...I think that's in the record book. Nowhere do I find the gospel preached and lived by Christ and those who followed Him...followed by comfortable trappings and a life of ease...that's a modern day fairy tale without any truth to it. Thank you for your courage to step out of the boat and let the Lord be the Lord in your life...no matter the cost.

Brother Todd: Thank you for your words of encouragement. Reading your comment, I thought about how over a lifetime, spouses know eachother so well, they can finish each other's sentences. As are the Bride of Christ, we should be that close, abiding in his word so richly that His every thought is our only thought.

Brother Jacob: Amen! As Brother Todd said, He must increase and I must decrease!

God knows you deeply, and knows exactly where to dig up the source of your troubles. Self-love is cowardly. The self does not have the courage to wound itself to death. SELAH!!! Great blog!!! I think this is my favoriate part! I know it's true for me!!!

Angela: I love the next line: 'Your self-love will cry out where God hits it. See to it that you do nothing to comfort it.'  Fenelon is one of my favorites. When I read that yesterday, it really inspired me to dive deeper.

Barvubuela:  I think you hit the nail on the head--we have become desensitized to those ways. When that happens we no longer even want to find the ancient paths. Do you think that's an indicator that we're beginning to 'wax cold'? Joining you in worship this morning! I too hear that wooing deep in my spirit today!

Dan: I'm so thankful that you made this connection...that it touched a heart string for you as it did for me, as I wrote it. He woos us away from those safe banks into deep waters...and it is overwhelming...to plunge in not knowing what of you will survive the swim. For those who dare to take the plunge, what makes it back to the surface is the only part of 'you' worth keeping...the rest remains submerged in Him...and there  is no better place to be.
