1:8 But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Yes, we need this power to enable us to witness for the Lord and to overcome temptation in our lives. This same power that raised Jesus from the dead can dwell in us. 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit. Jesus commanded us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He said: 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you. Jesus sends the Comforter and Jesus is the one who baptises in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and: 16:8 And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Yet He will guide us: 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, `these' shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come. Ask Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit and He will be you comforter, teacher, guide and will tell you things to come. He gives you power to witness and overcome evil. |
