Even those who do not accept God, should love their brother, don't you think. Individuals need first to gain morals, respect, and confidence, before deciding what they believe. It makes them more apt to opt in the Lords favor. Have you ever heard the quote "it is not to have love for others until you can love thyself..". Though everyone should love thy neighbor, the more love and confidence I have for myself, the more love and confidence I have in the Lord, and for others. A relationship with the Lord is among the best of relationships that you can have. Since I have been more for and about the Lord, I have been a much happier person. I don't find myself stressing the small stuff any longer. I find the good out of every situation, even the worst of situations. Satan clouds your mind of seeing the good. It is the Lord that will let the light shine through, and help you find your way through the clouds, given that you embrace him. He is waiting for everyone and already walking with most. Those who choose not to embrace the Lord, have not seen him yet, or may not be looking. Everyone feels differently about their religion, which is fine as long as they live a good life in good morals and good will. My own brother is a claimed "atheist", I dont look at him any different that I would look at a Catholic, Jew, Baptist, Protestant, Presbyterian, Episcopalian, Hindu, so on and so forth.
4:21 And this commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should love his brother also. |

Here in this verse, the word "should" is not to be thought of as synonymous with "must" or "ought", but rather "would be expected to". An authentic sincere love for God produces, as the primary fruit, love for others. (see Gal 5:22 for ex.) I don't offer this as a correction, but a clarification Katie. Oh, and a question. Do you believe the Catholic, Jew, Baptist, Protestant, Presbyterian, Episcopalian, Hindu, Buddhist, Mormon, JW, Deist, Muslim, atheist, etc. are all in good standing w/God as long as they are sincere? Just curious. :-) |

| I believe that everyone believes something a little different from the next person. I also believe that God loves everyone, even if they do not love and acknowledge God. As long as you live your life in good will, good deeds, and good faith that he will judge you fairly in the end. I believe that God does forgive us for our sins, and that no sin should keep you from heaven in the end, unless you are not sorry for what has been done, or have no remorse. |
