A CANDLE IN THE NIGHT
Yesterday was one of those days at church in which the Lord moves in and works in the heart of many people. How do I know? - I can sense the Holy Spirit convicting hearts
- The comments people make to me for days after the service
- The number of people who request copies of the service (I don't have a big head, this just shows that God shot an arrow into many peoples heart)
My subject remember, was men taking their place of leadership in the home. This is, need I say, a very sensitive subject in our current cultural climate. You know what floored me? I sensed that both men and women were open to this message because it came from the Bible. Many men and women made decisions yesterday. But one of the most important decisions of all was made quietly after the second service when no one was looking. He was just a teen, maybe 14 or 15, he came up to me right after the service. I could tell he had something on his mind, we often joke around but not this time. His eyes moistened as he said to me, " I want to be a man like that", Great I responded, he continued, " I want to be the spiritual leader in my home when I marry. I will defend my family to the death." I knew these were not casual words, but words pregnant with meaning. He was planting his flag. He was in the process of becoming a man. I asked could we pray together, we bowed our heads and in the midst of all the hustle of the ending service, he made that spot an altar and presented himself, his future marriage and family to the Lord. I was standing on Holy ground. We hear a lot about the fact that we are losing this generation. But isn't it neat when God allows you to see a candle in the dark. The light is really brilliant because the night is so dark. Pray for this teen and others like him. May his tribe increase. Pray for our teen leaders and the upcoming outreach Teen week and if you can get involved 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example to them that believe, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity. . |
