Sanctuary in the Church: Pastor Tim Lee

61:1 + 61:2 61:1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. 61:3 61:2From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock [that] is higher than I. 61:4 61:3For thou hast been a shelter for me, [and] a strong tower from the enemy.

84:1 + 84:2 84:1 How amiable [are] thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! 84:384:2My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. 84:4 84:3Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, [even] thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. 84:584:4Blessed [are] they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 84:12 84:11For the LORD God [is] a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good [thing] will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

The Church as a sanctuary is a place that you can meet God. King David spoke of the sanctuary as a shelter an a refuge, a dwelling place. David had problems from without and within in the form of enemies nations and his own son's plotting to over throw his kingdom.David found in trusting God that sanctuary to run into when the burdens were too heavy for him to bear, "even men after God's own heart bear burdens".David in the Psalms 84, says that his soul longeth, yea even fainteth for the courts of the Lord. David talks about the sparrows nesting in the house of God, blessed are they that dwell in thy house. David made reference to being a door keeper in the house of the Lord is far greater than dwelling in the tents of the wicked. David goes on to say the Lord will give grace and glory, no good thing will he with-hold from them that walk uprightly.The House of God should be a place to find peace of mind in a world that knows no peace, a sanctuary. The House of God should be a place lost people can find a Saviour, not join a social club.The House of God should be a place where the sick can find healing according to James 5:14. The House of God should be a places where the saints can cast their cares upon the Lord, because he careth for us.The House of God should be a House of Prayer for all people. Prayer changes things, Prayer changes people. Prayer touches the heart of God to move with compassion for his children.Jesus said, Where two or three would gather together in his name that he would be in the midst.
