| Jesus on Leadership |

Good Morning church family.
A few years ago my elder gave me a book and asked me to do a presentation on it at one of district meetings. He could not have known the profound impact it would have on my ministry. It was, in fact, an ephiphany and really gave clarity to what was in my heart about serving as a pastor.
The book was Jesus on Leadership, by C. Gene Wilkes. Wilkes gives 7 principles of servant-leadership and I wanted to share them with you today.
1. The servant-leader is humble and waits on the Lord to exalt him/her. Luke 14:7-11
2. The servant-leader follows Jesus rather than seeks positions. Mark 10:32-40
3. Servant-leaders give up personal rights to find greatness in service to others. Mark 10:42-45
4. Servant-leaders can take the risk of serving others because they trust that God is in control of
their lives. John 13:3
5. Servant-leaders take up Jesus' towel of servanthood to meet the need of others. John 13:4-11
6. Servant-leaders share their responsibility and authority with others to meet a greater need.
Acts 6:1-7
7. Servant-leaders multiply their leadership by empowering others to lead. Mark 6:7-13

Cheryl, You are always wonderfully encouraging. I love you sister. There is no doubt the principles were always in my heart. I truly believe God births in us all of our natural gifts. Some are better at certain things than others. Wilkes gift is that he put this teaching in writing so plain that I can make it my own. God gives all of us something that we can and should give to others.You do have that spirit of encouragement I mentioned. My spirit tells me that as a man of God, I should serve others. They should never serve me with more fervor than I serve them, no matter how much education or position that comes. The challenge for me has always been to get the traditional church to understand this. I do love them and like for them to honor their pastor by doing things for me. However, here again, my heart says serve them more!! You see? |

Pastor, Your heart is pure, your righteousness is commendable. Because you and Mrs. Webb are humble, you both, together will inherit the earth. You and Mrs. Webb are some of the smartest, anointed, and gifted people I know; yet you and her are always putting others first--willing to wash someone else's feet. I am blessed, blessed to have both of you in my life as my mentors. I simply can't say it enough: I AM PROUD TO SAY YOU, PASTOR JERRY WEBB AND MRS. MELDONY WEBB ARE MY LEADERS.
