| Let's show some love, MyChurch Family! |

| |
I started this blog after Pastor Tim suggested I write it based on a comment I wrote on his blog, "Palin, Oprah, Feminism and the Main Stream Media." I got discouraged at some of the comments that were written, because I thought they were an ugly way to "speak" to a fellow brother.
So here is what I said at the time: Just a note about "political" blogs...blogs are personal thoughts and opinions, and should be welcomed by all, whether you agree with the writer or not. People have to feel free to be transparent on their pages and their blogs without being blasted with negativity. We are all professing Christians on this site, and should act as such and speak (write) with the love of our Savior. If you don't agree with someone's writing or you find it offensive in some way, leave the blog! Don't read it! All of us that are commenting on this are opinionated, or we wouldn't be making the comments we are, but you have to remember that some of the readers are probably undecided. I for one would be happy if someone read something of mine and decided to vote for McCain/Palin, because I support them wholeheartedly and am very excited about them. But AGAIN...if I wrote a blog in favor of something that someone is against, I would say to them: "Don't read it, and God Bless You!"
15:12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Few things can get us as fired up as politics...I know that I am normally a very easy-going, soft-spoken person, but try to convince me that the "other guy" (or gal) is a better candidate than mine? Well, look out. I get fired up like nobody's business! How could you possibly vote for that person, I think? They don't have a clue! They want to do this, and that, and so on and so forth....and if they're not pro-life?!! Don't even get me started! I'm sure that most of you feel the same way about your candidate and your opinions.
But why are we here on this site? To bash each other's opinions, or to encourage and lift each other up even when we don't agree?
3:13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. That is not to say that we are not entitled to our opinions, or that we can't be passionate about them! But we need to learn to agree to disagree, as we are all members of the family and household of God, all brothers and sisters in Christ. He is our cornerstone of the whole structure. Can we try to keep building His temple up, instead of tearing it down?
2:19 So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 2:20 built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 2:21 in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; 2:22 in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. We must ask God to make us good friends to others, and to give us pure and loving hearts in all relationships, whether they be in our homes, our workplace, our church, or MyChurch. Satan would like nothing better than for us to tear each other down, or even better, get disgusted and leave MyChurch! Yes, there were even a few comments that day about leaving the site. 4:31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, with all malice, 4:32 and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. I send love to all my fellow MyChurch members...Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Constitution Party, Green Party, Libertarian Party, and even those that don't care. |

| Love it or leave it! Just kidding. Seriously, though this is a forum and it needs to be respected as just that. A place we all can air out what is on our mind. We all aren't right on everything though we may feel that we are. With that in mind, we should definitely respect and love one another even if they are literally out in "left" field (get it?). However, we must keep in mind that those that take a stand on any matter will eventually get some flack for it. Stand your ground girl and keep on blogging. |

Carol & Mike,
I agree with your thoughts here. I believe that we have a responsibility to speak truthfully, in effort to help others think and act more Biblically, while standing on a foundation of mutual love and respect...even gently correcting others if necessary. If we are to truly engage each other and grow, we ought to approach all blogs with the attitude of putting the view of Christ first, and basing our "opinion" on that. I always hope to represent HIS viewpoint to the best of my understanding, and I hope that is where my readers will speak from.
As far as my vote, it's right on with your choice: McCain/Palin b/c they best represent a Biblical worldview stand on right to life, embryonic stem cell, and sanctity of marriage issues. They are not "perfect," but they have the best shot at winning and defending the Biblical model of right and wrong concerning these issues.
I believe that if we turn a blind eye to these issues, God will not bless our country. He says he will care for us, but if we turn our back on these ethical issues and grieve the heart of God, we will disobey His commands and face judgement. I believe God will take care of all that concerns us, if we obey His commands and fight to defend His Word.
You both are appreciated and I am glad you are not of the "opinion" that Christians should be silent on these issues. Politics IS for Christians! It is for all people who fear God, amen? |

From Carol's blog:
"But why are we here on this site? To bash each other's opinions, or to encourage and lift each other up even when we don't agree?"
Quoted below the "Leave a comment" space on each blog:
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11"

Awesome Blog Carol and I don't just think that cause of the way you are voting :) No seriously this is a good blog, I think we should feel comfortable with one another we don't have to agree with each other always, to see we all have a heart for Jesus... and we should respect one another... you have a awesome heart for the Lord and you spoke in truth and love... We are to do that,we are all individuals and are raised differently and from different culture's and we can't expect to agree always, we can agree to disagree if need be... But I think we could also try and see where that person is coming from, we could learn something from each other that is how we grow...
God bless you Carol, Mike and family. |

| I agree with you my sister in what you have stated regarding peoples behaviors when posting to blogs...but you know this is what happens when people put their confidence in Man or Woman for that matter, to solve the ills of this world (politics)....(total confusion)..We should be putting our TRUST in the Most High God. If we all are Christians....Well we all are suppose to be acting (Christ-like), well maybe there may be some imposters or perpetrators amongst us..(smile) God is NOT the author of confusion but of PEACE ;o) |

Lee,
I love this scripture and agree in the law of love, but I know you would agree our role in the Brotherhood/Sisterhood is not one dimensional: We must speak and defend Truth whenever necessary.
2 Tim 4:1-5 4 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will (has) come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. NKJV
AND, I hope this place remains HisChurch and not to each his own opinion's being supreme....TonyaChurch, AmyChurch, etc, etc, Amen? |

Joey - thanks for the love!
Bro Todd and Cindy - thanks for your comments! (Bro Todd, I get it!)
Tonya - you are so right. I can not separate my politics from my Christianity. And I always try to convince the "other side" to see my viewpoint, but depsite how strongly I feel about things, I want to always try to treat my Christain brothers and sisters with love and respect.

Margie - yes, I fear there may be some imposters among us, and we should pray for them! God can use us here on this site to show love to others, even if we never meet face to face.
Patti and Grandmama - thanks for blessing me with your comments!
Tonya - AMEN to HisChurch! May we always keep it that way. And may we always speak and defend the truth IN LOVE.
Chris - thanks!! We must always be watching for the enemy to try and separate us.

The beauty in God's love is that we all have the Freedom of choice and with that he created us each individuals to do what it is that He Will have us to do. You are so right we should be building up and not tearing each other down. Thank God He gave us a voice to be able to voice our own opinion and to vote the way we all see fit to vote. What God has for you is for you and what God has for me is for me!! Praise the Lord we can all be here together you may want McCain/Palin and I may want Obama/Biden so what does that mean we cannot love each other....NO! Absolutely not Love Covers ALL!!!! |
