I find this a great comfort to know that I merely need to ask for forgiveness to be back in God's good graces. I sure need this kind of reassurance. We all live in a world where temptation is around every corner and speaking for myself, I fall, A LOT! I understand that we all sin but this little nugget the John left us lays it out in easy to understand language that very easy to remember. It can even be translated into one of our modern cliches, "Ask and you will receive" I don't know if that's originally from a bible translation but it helps to remind us how much God loves us when this is all we have to do and we are right with God again (as long as we mean it).
1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
