22:4 By humility [and] the fear of the LORD [are] riches, and honour, and life.
22:4 The payoff for meekness and Fear-of-God is plenty and honor and a satisfying life. Proverbs 22:4 The Message
This is a general observation that would have been especially applicable to an obedient Isrealite living in Solomon's God-fearing kingdom. Nevertheless, some have been martyrs at a young age, and some have given away all thier wealth for the sake of God's kingdom. The book of proverbs describes life the way it should be. It does not dwell on the exceptions.
